The Heavy North Return With New Tune ‘Round Again’
Six-piece Liverpool blues garage-rock band The Heavy North have returned with their brand new single, Round Again. Released on 30 June, the new track follows March’s Where Are You Now as the second single from the band’s upcoming album Delta Shakedown, which is scheduled for an October release.
Following last year’s critically acclaimed debut Electric Soul Machine, the band (consisting of frontman Kenny Stuart, guitarist/producer Jose Ibanez, bassist Andrew Horrocks, guitarist Jack Birch, drummer Mark Rice and Ste Penn on keys) embarked on their first UK headline tour and have since been gearing up for their second record.
Round Again delivers that classic 70’s blues rock feel with a forceful punch, maintaining a high energy throughout. Driven by a gritty, blaring guitar rhythm, the track is layered with wailing harmonica and thrashing drums. In discussing the meaning behind their new single, The Heavy North frontman Kenny Stuart explains that the song is a response to Where Are You Now, “which was about wondering what people from our past are up to now” – “this time we’re reflecting on our own circumstances and situations”. Round Again is about “being complacent with day-to-day routines whilst longing for a wilder, more carefree time”.
The single’s release comes hot on the heels of The Heavy North’s first overseas shows of the year, before the band bring their live set to Kendal Calling later this month with their first major festival show on 29 July. Later in the year, they are set to play their biggest headline yet with a hometown gig at Liverpool’s Camp and Furnace on 1 December. Exciting stuff!
