Sophie Li Returns With Anthemic Single ‘Billboards’

Twenty-one year old songwriter Sophie Li returns with a refreshing confidence for her next indie-rock anthem Billboards.

The track explores themes of self-doubt and “getting over the hurdle” of facing negative comments, both themes paralleled in the constant driving rhythm section of the track and illuminating lyrics delivered with a yearning purpose, a craft in which the young singer already excels.

The confidence in Li’s vocals may be a result of a new creative direction after recently leaving her label to re-establish herself as an independent artist.

“I want my career to be redefined with everything I do being a better quality than it was in the past” says Li.

Since 2022 Li has been putting her own stamp on Liverpool’s Indie scene with shows at Future Yard and The Shipping Forecast alongside Big Condo Records. The solo artist intends to grow her audience and professional team even further following the release of Billboards with a full band behind her.

Inspired by the new generation of heart-on-sleeve-lyric Indie Pop favourites Catfish and the Bottlemen and the more dulcet tones of beabadoobee, Billboards delivers a pop-friendly elevating anthem with an infectious chorus already set to breeze through Liverpool and beyond this Summer.

Keep up to date with Sophie Li’s releases in Spotify. Billboards follows the debut single For Crying out Loud released in December 2022.
