Waiting Till Marriage Spark Important Discussion With New Single ‘Great Britain’s Fate’

Alternative rock band, Waiting Till Marriage, are back with another indie track called Great Britain’s Fate, releasing on 10 March. Following in the great footsteps of eye-opening songs such as British Bombs by Declan Mckenna and Hypersonic Missile by Sam Fender, Great Britain’s Fate moulds the controversial topic of politics into an indie anthem.

The song was written during lockdown, a time that many believed the government was making questionable decisions. The difficult times of reflection inspired the band to create a piece that would encourage more debate on our countries future. As the vocals sing ‘Worms in their brains, eating away at the good ideas and answers’, we begin to understand exactly how they feel.

Great Britain’s Fate is introduced by Liam Brady with a raw toned bass that sets the energetic mood for the rest of the song. Following this is the intricate reverbed lead guitar melody performed by Brandon Tew, along with the crunchy rhythm guitar. Both work together to set high standards that are certainly met as the song plays on. As the first verse begins, the song reduces to the lead and bass guitars that create space for Adam Johnson’s sophisticated vocals.

As the chorus returns with its strong message about Great Britain’s political difficulties, the rhythm guitar proceeds with its punchy chords, adding to the strength of the message that the song portrays. Before the tune comes to a finish, we are treated to a catchy break-down that follows the pounding of the kick drum whilst they passionately sing their opinion of the government. As the bridge’s energy gradually rises, each instrument is teased with chords slammed and the drums building, progressively returning us back to the striking chorus.

Waiting Till Marriage’s ability to discuss their youthful insight of such a mature topic is essential for younger generations. Although it can be intimidating to release songs about such delicate subjects, Waiting Till marriage have used their platform to create a discussion of Britain’s fate and educate their fans of current affairs. This is a bold move for any artist and proves how much of a risk the band are willing to take just to create what they feel is right, which is what we all desire from our favourite bands. The songs genuine lyrics show how passionate and talented the band are, and certainly make us crave more music from them.
