Radio Psychosis Debuts With Hypnotic New Single ‘Television’

A new Runcorn based Artist Radio Psychosis has entered the music industry with his debut single, Television. The exciting new single is expected to release on 4 August and is a collaboration with Anglesey based artist Blindness and Light.

Television is an impressive debut that sounds as though it was picked straight from the noughties indie band era. Beginning with an instantly catchy Bloc Party-esque guitar riff, Television feels fit to be played at late night indie bars. Then the orchestral synths are seamlessly introduced, adding an 80’s synth-pop tone to the track. Both contrasting tones and genres are perfectly matched together to create a wonderfully appealing first single.

The track is a reminder of our addiction to television during the pandemic. It jokingly mocks the new personalities that many of us adopted during this difficult time and makes us realise how we shed these traits away so quickly since returning to normal life. The verses talk about our drone-like mentality over this period, as our minds became numb to the world and used television as a form of escapism. A hypnotic chorus repeats the word ‘Television’, highlighting the obsession that made the time pass by faster. It reminds us of the comfort we found in television as we lived life through fictional characters for comfort.

Radio Psychosis treats us to a video for Television that perfectly matches the flashbacks that the song creates. It shows a man sat on a couch in a dull lit living room as he flicks between channels, unable to decide what to watch. There is a mix of vintage music videos and the daytime television that carried us through the struggle. It appears that the dull life during the pandemic had inspired Radio Psychosis to be creative as the clips of him playing various instruments are flashed between the scenes of daytime television.

With such a boldly unique first single, Radio Psychosis has set the bar high for their future releases. We look forward to hearing any material that lies ahead.
