Grupo LUMA Returns To Liverpool Philharmonic After Hugely Successful National Tour

Following a highly successful year of concerts across the UK, Grupo LUMA return to Liverpool’s Philharmonic Music Room in March 2024 for an enchanting celebration of traditional and contemporary Latin American music.

Showcasing their unique spin on a diverse range of music from across the continent – including Cuba, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Venezuela – the group take their audiences on a captivating journey of sound, exploring magical melodies, rhythms and the poetry of Latin America.

With over 25 concerts in 2023, Grupo LUMA have established themselves on the ‘world music’ circuit, having graced events such as La Linea Festival, the Migration Matters Festival, el Sueño Existe, LUMA’S very own La Feria, as well as supporting the legendary Chilean band Illapu at the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool.

Led by Chilean brothers Francisco & Oscar Carrasco, who came to the UK in 1975 as exiles from the military dictatorship, Grupo LUMA celebrates the power of the people, and the unwavering bond between resistance and the creative forces of music. The band will present a beautiful mixture of Chilean and Latin American protest songs, as well as original compositions that captivate and enchant audiences.

In addition to their repertoire of classics, the group will also perform new original material, showcasing their unique spin on traditional rhythms such as Cumbia, Salsa, and Andean Afro/Latin.

Grupo LUMA transported the music room with their wonderful celebration of Latin American culture. We can’t wait to welcome them back for another mesmerising journey.
