Games Liverpool Loves

Liverpool Is Ready to Play

With the spring air warming up everyone’s moods, Liverpoolians are perking up from their winter slumbers. While many have taken advantage of the warmer climate to go out on the town for nights of dancing, check out Shakespeare plays in the park, and of course, dine in at the newest restaurants and cafes. However, a good amount of Liverpool residents enjoy their free time playing games.

Of course, gaming has taken on a variety of meanings as time goes on. Liverpool is home to all sorts of gaming fanatics, including role-playing games, video games, VR games, and escape rooms. That said, many people enjoy the simplicity of a card or table game like chess, poker, and of course, Bingo.

According to The UKGC, an incredible 50% of the UK adult population has tried their hand at a betting game. Whether online or face to face, players enjoy the challenge of competition, the subtle strategies of winning, and simply having fun with mates.

In Liverpool, residents tend to favour three particular games above the others. Bingo, which has taken a surprising nightlife turn among young people, Blackjack, the sophisticated card game that incites thoughtful challenges in players, and last but not least, backgammon, the loveable classic table game for two.

Bingo

Boldly stated as the bingo capital of the UK, Liverpool is home to thousands of bingo enthusiasts. Players vary in age, yet the fun they experience is all the same. Recently resurging in popularity, the centuries-old game hailing from Italy gets anybody close to a five square streak in a frenzy.

Lately, bingo has become popular in a few different ways. In one sense, bingo has become extremely popular online, including 90-ball bingo and 75-ball bingo. There are other variants of bingo including 30-ball bingo and 80-ball bingo that other players also enjoy having a go at.

On the other hand, several nightclubs have taken to hosting bingo nights as well. Bongo’s Bingo, for example, offers an unforgettable bingo experience. Young people have received the classic game well, enjoying the mixture with other activities including dance-offs, crowd entertainment, and absolutely mad wild cards.

Blackjack

While Liverpool’s new bingo might have people dancing on tables, Liverpool’s casino scene promises loads of fun, but in a slightly more refined way. For one, people sit at the tables instead of jamming out on them!

Jokes aside, Liverpool has a knack for Blackjack, particularly the classic Blackjack variation, which is played with eight decks of 52 cards. Believe it or not, classic Blackjack isn’t the same as what many consider “normal” Blackjack, which is played with sex decks instead of eight. Of course, there are many varieties of Blackjack besides classic and normal. There is also premium Blackjack, which is played with only four decks. Finally, there’s high roller Blackjack, which is very similar to the standard version of Blackjack, but with much higher stakes.

One of the newest features that online casinos like PokerStarsCasino offer are live dealers. Players can enter various gaming lobbies, including Live Blackjack and Live Roulette, and enjoy the company of skilled dealers. The experiences state maximum bets and high RTPs.

Backgammon

The Liverpool Backgammon Festival took place this April, and it’s still on everyone’s minds! It had been postponed for the last two years due to unprecedented global events, so to finally return to the boards was a very exciting moment for Liverpool’s backgammon fanatics.

While some believe that backgammon is one of the oldest games in the world, it actually only started to appear in historical documents towards the end of the middle ages. The closest variant, called Irish, originated in the Scottish courts of King James IV. The main difference is that Irish is a faster-paced version of backgammon.

Like bingo, backgammon took off in the UK around the 1960s due to its resurgence in popularity among socialites. Since then, the UK has developed prestigious backgammon tournaments and conferences, including the Backgammon Galaxy UK Open Tournament.
