After fueling his desire for music by pursuing a solo project back in 2012, vocalist and guitarist Daniel Pye joined forces with bandmates AJ Rathbone (guitar), Kieran Joyce (bass and vocals), and Andrew Finney (drums and vocals) to form Yarbo a few years back. With a handful of live shows and singles behind them and plenty more on the way, the band have so far made a promising entrance to the music scene.

The band’s newest single, ‘Parallel’, has all the makings of a classic indie belter. It’s clear that each of the lads have honed their musical talents, tying the track up neatly into one that is memorable and sure to be well-received live. There are multiple layers to all of Yarbo’s back catalogue, but this track in particular switches between the softness yet unwavering nature of the vocals, and the dually anthemic and blazing quality of the instrumentals. Living up to the track’s name, the song is one of parallels – it experiments with ambient melodies, but also has a undeniable level of grit.

Fans can stay tuned for the single’s official release on Friday 30th March, followed by a collection of gigs across the north west. You can get a sneak preview of the track on YouTube thanks to a live session recording, as part of #SilkMillSessions from the recording studios in Staffordshire.

Earlier release, ‘Silverdust’, is both charming and dynamic. The vocals have a soaring quality that expertly compliments the steady rhythm of guitars and drums. Head to YouTube to watch the official video, which features an endearing mini-musician-in-the-making (‘Lolli’) taking centre stage as singer, guitarist and drummer of the band, showcasing the boys’ energy and enthusiasm for the music they make. More recent release, ‘The End Is Coming’, has a breezy air about it in spite of the title, offering an uplifting mix of guitar hooks, vocals, and jingling drums.

With more songs promised over the coming year, the breath of talents and scope for Yarbo is only set to progress.
