Renting Gear For A Silent Disco

Just like at a roller rink, you can bring your own skates or choose to rent them. The same applies for silent discos, but with headphones; you bring your own pair or rent them.

Buying vs. Renting

Buying Silent Disco Headphones

If you’re going to a silent disco and plan to use your headphones more than once, you can always buy them.

Just be sure to purchase headphones specifically for silent discos. Ordinary wireless headphones won’t work because they’re incompatible with transmitters or the equipment.

You’ll need silent disco headphones because of the specific type of technology built in them. This wireless technology is compatible with radio transmitters because they rely on radio waves that carry sound signals back and forth, from the headphone to the transmitter and back again.

Buying a pair of silent disco headphones can be quite the investment, especially if you’re only going to use the headphones once. The average price for a pair of silent disco headphones ranges from $400 to $1,200 (£325 to £980).

Renting Silent Disco Headphones

If you’ve RSVP’d to a silent disco, you’ll need a pair of wireless silent disco headphones. Some people choose to rent instead of buy to save money. Plus, how many silent discos do you plan to attend in any given year or even in a month?

Renting the best silent disco headphones is a great alternative with all the same benefits and features.

Features

Before buying or renting silent disco headphones, it’s important to ensure that the headphones are compatible with the DJ’s equipment. It’s also important to ensure the rental provides additional features so you can get the most from your headphones.

Technology – There are three wireless technologies that silent disco headphones can use; Bluetooth, Radio Frequency (RF), and Infrared (IF).

Because of the way Bluetooth works, choosing headphones with RF or IF technology would be a better option, especially for a silent disco. With Bluetooth, each pair of headphones would fight to connect to the transmitter.

RF technology is the best option for silent disco headphones because of its connectivity and signal transmitting capabilities.

Transmitter – Some wireless headphones don’t include a transmitter. A transmitter is one of the most important features because it allows you to connect to the DJ’s equipment to listen to music, so ensure your headphones come with one.

Battery life – You wouldn’t want your headphones dying halfway through the party. A good quality headphone provides at least 10 to 12 hours of battery life.

Other features – Some other features a good headphone provides are; adjustability, durability, comfortability (padding), design, and LED.
