Ormskirk Food & Drink Market Call For Local Talent To ‘Play’ This November

Ormskirk Food & Drink Market is on the lookout for local musicians to take to the stage at the Moorgate venue when it opens later next month.

The team behind the venue, which is themed around Eat, Meet & Play, has revealed that it will host live music three days a week, on a raised stage within the 10,000 sq. ft space. The countdown to the opening is now on with the town eagerly awaiting a first glimpse of the new food hall, alongside its six kitchens, bar area, immersive games area, retail outlets and private hire space.

Local and new-on-the-scene bands and performers are now being encouraged to get in touch in a bid to take part in the upcoming residency slots that will become available.

Director Simon Beer said: “There really is an abundance of musical talent here in Ormskirk and the surrounding areas and we want to create a reputation as the venue that gives those upcoming and emerging bands a platform to showcase themselves. We are all about bringing value to the area and becoming a destination within our community that shows everyone just how much we have to offer.

“The element of ‘Play’ is very important to what this brand is about and that’s why we’re passionately championing the talent that we have right on our doorstep. Alongside this, we’re also in the process of populating our games area offering, which will have shuffleboard tables and electronic darts within it, with a full games loft on schedule for early next year.”

Ormskirk Food & Drink Market recently announced the impressive list of independent traders that will take up home in the new site this winter, including award-winning Baltic Triangle restaurant Lu Ban, headed up by Executive Chef Dave Critchley, as part of their new street food concept Meishi, Burscough-based pizzeria Purely Pizza, steak and fish eatery Salmo, iconic outdoor hangout Backyard Liverpool, all things burgers courtesy of Meatello and Greek street food newcomer Gyrosophy.

Acquired by leading hospitality operators Simon and his wife Fiona in 2021, the former indoor market has remained vacant for the past 12 years and is currently in the latter stages of transformation.

Fiona added: “It was so exciting to announce our food vendors and the reaction we have received since then has been fantastic. Now it’s time to pull another element of our community into the collective and create a strong portfolio of impressive local talent, all under one historical roof. There really is no better way to compliment brilliant food than with great live music.”

The team are also busy interviewing for a total of 80 roles available including Business Development Manager, Bar Manager, Head Bartender, Bartenders and Servers.
