Food and Drink in Liverpool

Exciting Music Programme Announced As Part Of The Roof Project’s Tailgate Food and Drink Festival

Liverpool bar and social space The Roof Project launched its Tailgate Food and Drink Festival this week, and whilst eating and drinking is at its heart, it also includes some generous side servings of live music and DJs.

Running across four consecutive weekends until Sunday 15 October, Tailgate features take-overs of the Gradwell Street venue by a number of the North West’s leading bars, restaurants and craft breweries.

The event kicked off this weekend with Liverpool’s Buyers Club, who were joined by Hot Mess Pizza Company, Leeds’ Northern Monk Brewery, with live Jazz by Harry & Luke and DJ sets from Daniel Lawton.

This coming weekend, 28 September – 1 October sees Indian street food and craft beer fans Bundobust. serving spicy bites and cold beers, and on Thursday, Dig Vinyl’s Elliott Hutchinson presents a Bollywood vinyl special, followed on Saturday 30th with DJ sets from Matica and DJ Beachball.

Cult sandwich and coffee deli Dereks joins Tailgate on the following weekend 5-8 October, alongside Liverpool craft brewers and DJs Carnival Brewing Company. Thursday 5th features Soulful Jazz Duo, with the Carnival boys taking to the decks themselves on Saturday 7th, bringing some of their unique ‘Carnivalization’ to the rooftop event.

The final weekend of 12-15 October sees the Tailgate Closing Party, with Polpetta – an Italian-inspired kitchen & deli, and Black Lodge Brewery, both hailing from the Baltic, who are joined on Thursday 12th by psych jazz/trip-hop trio Bop Kaballa, and Subs N’ Dubs with Svara Radio on Saturday 14th.

The weekend takeovers start with a ticketed Supperclub event on the Thursday evenings, where each event partner cooks their best-loved dishes, accompanied by a beer flight, talks and live music.

The remaining weekend days, Friday to Sunday are free entry and open to table bookings and walk-ups, rounding off with a Barrel Drain party on each of the Sunday nights, with selected beers by Tailgate brewery partners for only £3 – when they’re gone, they’re gone!

Tickets to the Tailgate Supperclubs on each of the three renaming Thursday nights are limited and can be bought in advance from theroofproject.co.uk/tailgate at £25.00pp.
