Things To Do While At University In Liverpool

If you’re going to be staying in the city of Liverpool for any length of time, then you owe it to yourself to make time to fully explore and appreciate the city. This applies especially to students, who’ll be using their time in the city not only to explore their surroundings, but to explore themselves, too. There’s more to this part of the country than pop music and football, and if you’re going to get the most from your stay, then it’s worth familiarising yourself with several key locations.

The Royal Albert Dock

The Royal Albert Dock is at the heart of Liverpool’s waterfront and is an arts and cultural hub. It’s home to Tate Liverpool, The Beatles Story, The Maritime Museum and plenty of amazing bars and restaurants. It’s the place to be to really soak in the culture of the city.

Bold Street

If you’d like something a little different to the typical high-street outing, then a visit to Bold Street might just fit the bill. It’s here that you’ll find a range of diverse, smaller retailers, offering niche items that you won’t find elsewhere. There’s also plenty of entertainment in this part of the city, as well as great places to grab a bite to eat.

Visiting Home

From time to time, you might elect to return home and check in with friends and family. This is pretty straightforward, even if you don’t have a car: Liverpool offers excellent links to the rest of the country via rail.

For maximum security it’s worth storing your belongings while you’re out of the city. Fortunately, there are plenty of secure self-storage units in Liverpool, where you can stash high-value items. If you’re concerned about your stuff, then get familiar with these facilities – or you might later regret it!

Liverpool One

This is the big shopping centre in the middle of the city. It offers just about everything you’d expect from a major mall of this kind, including a wealth of big-name high street stores, restaurants, and a cinema. The chances are good that you’re going to be spending a lot of time here over the course of your studies – so get familiar with it!

Knowsley Safari Park

The safari park will appeal to just about anyone with an interest in animals. There are more than five-hundred animals on display here, including lions, tigers, rhinos, meerkats and giraffe. You don’t need to be able to drive to see the park: there are bus routes running from the city out to the park. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon at the weekend.
