Padel Courts To Open At Liverpool Cricket Club
Game4Padel, the UK’s leading padel business, will be officially opening three new padel courts this November at Liverpool Cricket Club.
Padel is reported to be the world’s fastest growing sport, and as such, has attracted a number of high-profile ambassadors including Virgil van Dijk and Dominic Calvert Lewin who have both invested in Game4Padel in 2021.
Padel originally started in Mexico in the 1960s, and is now played in over 100 countries around the world, by an estimated 25 million players. Spain has more than 20,000 Padel courts, and over six million active players – padel is now the country’s second biggest participation sport after football.
In Sweden and Italy the sport grew rapidly during lockdown and in some parts of the Middle East the sport is now part of the national curriculum in schools. Forecasters predict padel will become an Olympic sport by 2032.
Fans of the game include Game4Padel investors Andy Murray and Virgil van Dijk, as well as well-known names such as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, David and Cruz Beckham, Jurgen Klopp, Bradley Walsh, Elle MacPherson and Nicole Scherzinger.
The courts at Liverpool Cricket Club will be officially opened on Saturday 4 November. Anyone is welcome to attend from 9am onwards to take part in padel clinics, learn more about the sport and watch an exhibition padel match.

The courts at Liverpool Cricket Club are open for anyone to use, regardless of whether they are members of the Club. Courts must be booked in advance via the Matchi app, details of which can be found on the Game4Padel website.
Dave Scanlon, Chairman of Liverpool Cricket Club, commented, “Padel is going to be a great addition at Liverpool Cricket Club. We have seen how popular the game is becoming all around the UK and expect the courts to be in high demand from people who already use the club facilities, as well as those who live in the local area. We encourage anyone who fancies trying something new to come down and try it out for themselves.”
Game4Padel Co-Founder and CEO, Michael Gradon added: “Padel is a highly social game so we think it will do really well here at Liverpool, where there is a community of active people already. The beauty of padel is it’s really easy to pick up and master, so you don’t need any previous racket experience to have a good game, whatever your age or ability.”
