Make Winter Indie: A Music Night Supporting Mental Health Charity Mind

Get down to Round The Corner – a lovely little music venue in Liverpool’s Fabric District. Make Winter Indie is brought to you by university students, Katya-Sofia Neves and Haleema Williams who are studying Music Business at the Liverpool campus of SAE Institute.

For indie music fans and to anyone hanging out on the Indie floors of the Liverpool club scene, Make Winter Indie is the live music night for you. Presenting indie bands who have sprung out of the same city that created The Beatles, taking the stage on the night are Midnight Curfew and The Rondays.

Midnight Curfew is a four-piece band that formed together towards the end of 2022. They have since played numerous live gigs in local venues including; The Jacaranda – “the venue that gave birth to The Beatles”, Round The Corner, and EBGBS. Their music follows the tastes of great indie bands such as Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes. Check out their latest single Hung Up.

The Rondays are another four-piece band that formed back in 2018. The band has been causing waves in the live music scene here in Liverpool with their eclectic stage presence in venues such as Round The Corner, The Jacaranda, Jimmy’s, and EBGBS. Listen to their latest self-titled album The Rondays.

Additionally, the Make Winter Indie team has decided to work with mental health charity Mind – an organisation to promote better mental health. The charity operates within England and Wales and aim to to raise awareness and create an understanding of mental health issues. There are local Mind catchment areas across England and Wales that all offer different services to anyone going through mental health struggles. These services can range from: talking therapy, crisis helplines, employment and training schemes, counselling, and befriending services. Anyone can get in touch to access these services, you don’t need a referral from a GP. Visit mind.org.uk for more information.

“We wanted to create an event for something we felt strongly about, and that is mental health. It is something that although is being spoken about more in the last few years, it’s still something that isn’t talked about enough and can be something that has this aura around it where if you are struggling then you’re deemed as less than to those who aren’t living with a mental illness. So, when the discussion of doing this event for a charity came up, we saw that Mind were the right fit for what we aim to achivieve – which is raising the awareness of mental health and keeping that conversation alive.” – Haleema Williams & Katya-Sofia Neves (the Make Winter Indie team).

Make Winter Indie is a live music night here in Liverpool city centre that you don’t want to miss, so if you and your friends, family, or significant other are looking for something to do this December then get yourselves along to Round The Corner at 51 Kemptson St and enjoy a night of live music, drinks, all while supporting a great cause.
