Licensing Application Approved For BOXPARK Liverpool

Award-winning dining, retail and leisure operator BOXPARK has received approval on its licensing application for the brand-new venue in Liverpool, scheduled to be opening in late 2023.

To celebrate the announcement and following approval of planning permission for BOXPARK Liverpool in February, CEO of BOXPARK Simon Champion met with Mayor of Liverpool Joanne Anderson to tour the future venue and discuss BOXPARK’s hopes for its expansion to Liverpool.

The highly anticipated food and events venue has been granted a premises licence for its drinks and entertainment, which allows it to open daily until 1am, and until 2am the morning following New Year’s Eve. Opening hours will be Monday to Sunday from 10am with a licence until 1am.

BOXPARK CEO Simon Champion, comments on the planning permission announcement: “We have had a successful early 2023 with the planning permission and licensing application now fully approved for BOXPARK Liverpool. Our team has been working hard behind the scenes and it very much feels like we’re on the home straight to transforming Canning Hall at Cains Brewery. We’re looking forward to our future in Liverpool and the positive impact we’ll bring to the local region’s economy.”

Mayor of Liverpool Joanne Anderson also commented: “I was very impressed with BOXPARK’s plans for the Baltic Triangle. Their arrival represents a major investment in the area and underlines the growing confidence in the city’s appeal to investors. I’m sure the company will be a welcome and popular addition to our leisure offer when they open later this year.”

Outlined in the planning permission approval back in February, the group is investing more than £3.5m into the Baltic Triangle and is expected to bring 150 new jobs to the local community. On top of this, the scheme will also drive a significant volume of footfall to the area, with over a million people expected to visit each year*.

Spanning 21,000 sq. ft and holding 400 internal covers plus 200 external covers BOXPARK Liverpool will include 10 kitchen units, three internal bars with additional external bars. There will also be a 5,430 sq. ft external garden to offer al fresco dining and intimate events.

BOXPARK Liverpool will be the first of its kind outside of London adding to the three current sites in Shoreditch, Croydon and Wembley.

BOXPARK has agreed a 15-year lease with Cains Brewery Village for the site, located within the city’s booming Baltic Triangle. The venue will be transformed into a stunning food hall and events destination featuring a large internal space with units set over the ground floor, a small internal mezzanine, and an external terrace.

Cains Brewery Village opened its gates in November 2015 and is a unique leisure destination centred around the iconic grade II listed Cains Brewery. The brewery was established in 1850 by Robert Cain and described by English Heritage as “One of the finest purpose-built breweries in Britain”.

Cains Brewery Village stands proudly in the heart of Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle and home to Cains Brewery, Lu Ban Restaurant, Bongo’s Bingo, Ghetto Golf, Punch Tarmey’s Irish Pub, ArCains, Baltic Market, Northern Lights, The Royal Standard Liverpool, Hub Art Studios, SORT Recording Studios, Ryde Coffee Shop and many more.
