Flat Iron Steak Restaurant To Open on Liverpool’s Castle Street Before Christmas
Popular steak restaurant Flat Iron has confirmed it will open its first Liverpool location on Castle Street before Christmas 2026, bringing its signature affordable steaks to the heart of the city centre.
The new 100-cover restaurant will open at 25 Castle Street, joining the growing number of restaurants and bars along one of Liverpool’s most historic streets.
Known for its commitment to serving high-quality steak at affordable prices, Flat Iron has built a reputation for its simple, carefully considered menu, with its signature Flat Iron steak taking centre stage.
The restaurant’s namesake steak is cut from the featherblade, an often-overlooked cut of beef celebrated for its flavour, tenderness and juiciness. Alongside the signature dish, diners can expect a regularly changing selection of specials, including Wagyu steak and a smashed onion double cheeseburger made using beef from Flat Iron’s own herd in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.
The menu will also feature a selection of indulgent sides, including beef dripping chips, creamed spinach, truffled macaroni cheese and crispy bone marrow garlic mash.
Drinks will include a curated wine list featuring Flat Iron’s own Malbec, alongside draft beers and a selection of signature cocktails.

A Historic Castle Street Setting
Flat Iron Liverpool will be housed in a characterful Grade II listed building originally constructed in the 1930s as the headquarters of Royal Liver Assurance.
Designed by Macaulay Sinclair, the restaurant’s interior will take inspiration from the building’s history while maintaining Flat Iron’s signature warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The space will feature high ceilings, soft lighting and reclaimed furniture, creating a relaxed setting for diners. A central bar will form the focal point of the restaurant, connecting the dining and drinking areas.
Flat Iron Confirms Liverpool Opening for Winter 2026
Speaking about the highly anticipated opening, Flat Iron’s Head of Beef, Fred Smith, said:“It’s been a long time coming but we’re very pleased to confirm we’re opening our doors this side of Christmas! Our mission has always been to offer remarkable, carefully sourced steak at an affordable price and we can’t wait to share it with the people of Liverpool.”
The arrival of Flat Iron will add another dining option to Liverpool’s bustling Castle Street, which has become one of the city centre’s most popular destinations for food and drink.
An exact opening date has yet to be announced, but the restaurant has confirmed it will welcome its first customers before Christmas 2026.
