Things to do in Liverpool

Biggest Professional Wrestling Weekend Of The Year Coming To Liverpool This September

For the second year in a row, TNT Extreme Wrestling will be putting on Europe’s biggest weekend of professional wrestling as they welcome American promotion Game Changer Wrestling to Merseyside for three days of pro wrestling action.

The weekend will comprise five separate events that are estimated to attract 2,000 people to the city from 15 – 17 September in the Baltic Triangle’s Hangar34 music venue.

The year before saw some 1,500 fans descend on Merseyside and featured ex-WWE star Matt Cardona taking on former TNT World Champion Dan Moloney. The weekender is now set to be bigger and better than ever, according to event organisers. Both companies will be putting on their own shows across the weekend, with a special “versus” show to cap off the festivities on Sunday night.

Game Changer Wrestling is known for drawing thousands to their high-octane shows in the States with talent such as Nick Gage and Sawyer Wreck, whereas TNT has been running shows for the 18+ market in Liverpool for the past nine years.

TNT will first go live on Friday evening with Project X, which features some of the best high-flyers from around the world competing in a special “Project X” match where the competitors must retrieve a contract suspended above the ring. Also confirmed is an international dream match where Rina Yamashita takes on Emersyn Jayne, and TNT World Champion Charles Crowley defends his title against Jordan Oliver.

Then Saturday features two shows: TNT’s family-friendly brand IGNition will go live in the afternoon, where ex-boxer RPD defends his IGNition Championship against loudmouth JJ Webb, with this show being the one event of the weekend being appropriate for all ages. In the evening, US company GCW takes over, bringing their trademark raucous brand of action to the UK.

Sunday will see a special exhibition event from all-women’s company Sirens Fury take place in the afternoon, where young upstart Zizi is confirmed to take on world-travelled talent Allie Katch. Then, in the evening, the big finale kicks off

The event will feature some of the biggest names in independent professional wrestling such as Effy, Masha Slamovich, Gringo Loco, Rina Yamashita, as well as home-grown talents including Alexxis Falcon, Leon Slater, Dan Moloney, and many more.

TNT owner Jay Apter said, “We’re really thrilled to bring GCW back to England. TNT as a company has grown so much over the last nine years, and I’m so happy that we’re making something happen right here, on Merseyside. We’re going head to head with one of the biggest companies in professional wrestling and to do it here in Liverpool is nothing short of amazing.”

Tickets for the weekend extravaganza of wrestling are available now, either in weekend tickets for the three main shows, or as individual passes, on Skiddle and Ringside World.

TNT Extreme Wrestling was founded in 2015 and was created by Jay Apter. The company started life by promoting professional wrestling shows to mature fans and has since expanded to family-friendly shows and international pay-per-views.
