Dolce Vita Celebrates 40 Years as an Ainsdale Restaurant Favourite
One of Ainsdale’s best-loved restaurants is celebrating an impressive milestone as Dolce Vita marks 40 years at the heart of the village.
The Italian restaurant first opened on Station Road in 1986 and has since welcomed generations of diners through its doors, becoming a familiar fixture in Ainsdale’s food and drink scene.
Over the decades, Dolce Vita has built a loyal following from Ainsdale, Southport and further afield, with the restaurant regularly welcoming local footballers, celebrities and other familiar faces from across the region.
The current owners took over in April 2023, becoming custodians of an already well-established name and setting out to preserve the restaurant’s heritage while continuing to develop it for a new generation of diners.
At the heart of Dolce Vita is its authentic Italian food, with the kitchen combining traditional recipes with fresh, seasonal produce.
Its à la carte menu covers everything from antipasti and wood-fired pizzas to pasta, risotto, meat and seafood dishes.
Current favourites include Smoked Salmon Bucatini, Linguine Frutti di Mare and Lasagne al Forno, alongside pizzas ranging from the classic Margherita to Nduja & Goat’s Cheese.
There’s also the signature Dolce Vita pizza, topped with dolce latte blue cheese, mozzarella and Parma ham.
Offering what the team describes as “a little taste of Italy in Ainsdale”, the restaurant maintains the relaxed atmosphere of a neighbourhood favourite, whether visitors are stopping by for dinner for two, drinks with friends or a larger family celebration.
Its popularity is reflected in hundreds of positive reviews, with Dolce Vita currently holding a 4.6 out of 5 rating on Tripadvisor as well as a Travellers’ Choice accolade.

Sunday Lunch and Steak Night
While Italian food remains its speciality, Dolce Vita has also developed a strong following for its Sunday lunch.
Served from 12pm until 6pm, the traditional Sunday Lunch features a choice of roast meats alongside all the familiar trimmings and generous portions.
Sunday Lunch is priced at £22 for one course, £26 for two courses or £30 for three courses, with seasonal dishes and weekly specials also appearing on the menu.
Thursday evenings bring another popular offer, with Steak Night featuring two premium 8oz rump steaks and a bottle of house wine to share for £45.

Celebrating 40 Years in Ainsdale
The restaurant itself has continued to evolve too. An outside terrace now features its own stand-alone bar, all-weather umbrellas and heaters, while a dedicated function room and heated conservatory provide space for private celebrations.
Larger parties can also be accommodated within the main restaurant.
Margaret Murphy said: “Dolce Vita has been part of Ainsdale for 40 years and we are incredibly proud to have been custodians of such a well-known and much-loved name.
“When we took over, we inherited a restaurant with a real history in the village. We wanted to respect that heritage while continuing to move it forward.
“Some customers have known Dolce Vita for decades, while others are discovering us for the first time, and that’s what makes it so special.
“Reaching 40 years is an incredible milestone. We’re enormously grateful for the support we receive and very excited about the next chapter.”
Just a two-minute walk from Ainsdale train station, with on-street parking nearby, Dolce Vita remains easily accessible for diners travelling from across the area.
Four decades after the Dolce Vita name first appeared on Station Road, the restaurant remains firmly part of Ainsdale life – combining Italian food, warm hospitality and the familiarity of a neighbourhood restaurant that generations of customers have made their own.
