Sefton Park Hotel Targets Record-Breaking Year Following Major Investment
Liverpool’s historic hidden gem, Sefton Park Hotel, is entering an exciting new chapter as it unveils a series of strategic leadership appointments and significant venue enhancements, positioning the boutique property for its most successful year to date.
Overlooking the picturesque boating lake in Sefton Park, the much-loved Victorian villa has announced the appointment of Megan Hanson as its new Hotel Manager. Bringing more than 15 years of hospitality experience and an extensive hotel background, Megan joins the team from the prestigious Knowsley Hall Estate, where she held a senior operations role overseeing luxury weddings and large-scale, high-profile events. A trained sommelier with a passion for exceptional guest experiences, Megan’s arrival signals a renewed focus on service excellence and a vibrant evolution of the hotel’s food and beverage offering.
“I am thrilled to be joining Sefton Park Hotel at such a pivotal moment,” said Megan Hanson, Hotel Manager. “This is a truly special property with incredible heritage and a stunning location. I’m excited to build on its strong reputation, elevate the guest experience, and introduce fresh energy across the hotel and its dining spaces.”
Megan’s appointment comes as the hotel nears completion of an extensive £250,000 refurbishment programme, set to conclude in Spring 2026. Designed to sympathetically enhance the building’s historic character, the transformation introduces a ‘modern vintage’ aesthetic, blending contemporary elegance with the charm of the original Victorian features.
Many of the 16 ensuite bedrooms have already been completed, with each room featuring Victorian-style sanitaryware, marble tiles, brass fittings and wood panelling. Carefully curated lighting and elegant décor create a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. Upgraded bathrooms, furnishings and lighting complement the preserved period details throughout the property.
The refurbishment also includes significant upgrades to the hotel’s public areas and event spaces, including the restaurant and bar, which will soon operate seven days a week. The beautifully restored three-storey villa, located just ten minutes from Liverpool city centre, also features a self-contained garden coach house accommodating up to six guests.
On the lower ground floor, a newly refurbished event suite with a draped marquee provides capacity for up to 120 seated guests or 200 for receptions—making the hotel an ideal destination for weddings, celebrations and private events, all set against panoramic views across Sefton Park’s iconic boating lake.
Further enhancing its offering, the hotel is preparing to launch the Sefton Park Bistro in Spring 26, a stylish new eatery serving a curated menu of home-made, gastropub-style dishes. With sweeping views across the park, the bistro will also mark the return of one of Liverpool’s finest Sunday roasts, reimagined for a new era.
With strong leadership, substantial investment and an exciting culinary relaunch, Sefton Park Hotel is poised to build on its heritage while confidently stepping into its most dynamic year yet.
