Liverpool’s Largest Sauna Park, The Urban Sauna, Set to Open in Anfield This November
Liverpool’s largest sauna park is set to open in Anfield this November, bringing Scandinavian-style saunas, outdoor hot tubs and cold-water plunge pools to a newly transformed wellness destination.
The Urban Sauna will officially open on Saturday 14 November 2026, as part of an ambitious 24,000 sq ft wellness and commercial hub on Cherry Lane.
The new outdoor retreat has been developed by regeneration company Seven Group, which has spent the past four months transforming part of a derelict former business park into a peaceful space surrounded by trees and greenery.
Designed to offer visitors an escape from the stresses of everyday life, The Urban Sauna will combine traditional Scandinavian sauna experiences with modern wellness facilities.
What Can Visitors Expect at The Urban Sauna?
The new Anfield wellness destination will feature:
- Two Scandinavian log-burning saunas, each accommodating up to 16 people
- Two outdoor hot tubs with space for 10 people each
- A six-person ice bath
- Two individual ice baths
- Outdoor shower facilities
The venue aims to create a welcoming space where visitors can unwind, recharge and enjoy the benefits of hot and cold-water experiences, whether visiting regularly or simply treating themselves to some relaxation.
Shane Hanley, director of Seven Group and co-founder of The Urban Sauna, said: “People lead busy, hectic and stressful lives, so I wanted to create an outdoor health and wellness centre where they can come for an hour a day, two, three or four times a week—to relax, unwind and take a break from real life.”
He added: “This is about bringing people back to nature. Once you’re here, it feels like being in the country. It’s Scandinavian—simple saunas and cold-water treatments inspired by how saunas were used hundreds of years ago, offering a wellness experience that’s a little different.”
Part of a Major Regeneration Project in Anfield
The opening of The Urban Sauna forms part of a wider regeneration project that is bringing new businesses, leisure facilities and employment opportunities to the Cherry Lane area.
More than £2.5 million has already been invested in transforming the former business park over the past two years.
The redevelopment has seen an existing building converted into a children’s nursery and play centre, while a former college building has been transformed into seven modern trade units, now occupied by local businesses.
The Urban Sauna is expected to create 20 new jobs, with further plans to expand the site into a major leisure and lifestyle destination.
An additional £6 million of planned investment could see the introduction of a swimming pool, gym, golf simulator and container storage facilities.
Shane said: “Over the last 14 years, I’ve done a lot of work in the city with charities and local businesses. I felt now was the time to do something special for Liverpool and give something back to the community.”
The Urban Sauna Opening Date, Prices and Membership
The Urban Sauna will welcome the public for a special viewing session on Saturday 14 November 2026, between 12pm and 4pm, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the new facilities.
Following its opening, the venue will operate seven days a week, from 7am until 9pm, with limited spaces available for each session.
Annual membership will cost £999 for unlimited use, although the first 100 applicants can take advantage of a special introductory membership price of £497.
Single sessions, block bookings and private access will also be available, offering flexible options for visitors.
Speaking about the transformation, Shane added: “This was a rundown site that we decided to regenerate, and we want the people of Liverpool to come and enjoy it.
“The dream has become a reality, and it’s going to be phenomenal.”
With outdoor wellness experiences continuing to grow in popularity, The Urban Sauna is set to bring something different to Liverpool’s health and leisure scene.
