Whitechapel Centre Launch Online Raffle For A Chance To Win A Cruise Holiday
Liverpool’s homelessness charity, The Whitechapel Centre, has launched its first online raffle to raise funds to help tackle homelessness in the city.
The raffle is offering a fantastic first prize of a 7 night Scottish Highlights & Faroes cruise for two people. The cruise has been donated by Cruise & Maritime Voyages and departs from Liverpool on 15th July 2017. The company decided to donate the prize in order to support the excellent work performed by The Whitechapel Centre.
Bob McGowan, Head of Customer Services at Cruise & Maritime Voyages said, ‘Last year, a delayed departure from Liverpool meant that we needed to provide sandwiches to our waiting guests. Liverpool Cruise Terminal suggested that we donated all the left-over food to the Whitechapel Centre and so we became aware of the amazing work that this organisation undertakes.
The online raffle comes as Liverpool Cruise Terminal begin their 10th Anniversary celebrations.
Councillor Frank Hont, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “The Whitechapel Centre provide an invaluable service and I’m delighted that as a result of our Cruise team, they have been able to source a highly desirable prize for their raffle.
“This will hopefully entice many people to take part in the raffle and as a result generate as much money as possible which can be re-invested in the outstanding work they do to help people who are homeless, socially excluded or experiencing housing poverty.”
The Whitechapel Centre is working with an increasing number of people who need help to end or prevent homelessness. Last year they worked with 2,814 people from the Liverpool region.
Ruth McCaughley, Fundraising Manager at the Whitechapel Centre said, “We’re delighted to able to run our first online raffle with such a fantastic prize. With a growing pressure on our services we are increasingly relying on public support to continue our work. We would love the opportunity to give one of our supporters such a lovely holiday.”
Tickets are on sale until Wednesday 14th June and the draw will take place on Friday 16th June. There is a second prize of a Sony Playstation 4 and third prize of a large teddy bear. Winners will be informed by phone or post and displayed on the website. Entrants must be aged 16 or over.
Tickets are £5 each and available through the charity’s website: www.whitechapelcentre.co.uk/raffle-2017
