What’s On At The Grand National 2022?
Aintree Racecourse is all set to welcome fans to another spectacular three days of steeplechase horseracing, culminating in the 2022 Grand National on Saturday 9 April.
This is a race that’s captured the hearts and minds of the horseracing world since 1839. Even casual sports fans scour the pre-race tips and insights at oddschecker to place a cheeky wager or two, but there’s so much more to these three days than just the Randox Grand National. Read on and explore the events and attractions on offer to Aintree guests during these three days of world-class racing.
Thursday’s opening ceremony
Thursday 7 April sees the opening ceremony to celebrate the three days of top-class jump racing at Aintree. The Retraining of Racehorse Parade is a celebration of past runners in the Grand National, with the Red Devils then delivering the 2022 Randox Grand National Trophy.
The opening ceremony welcomes well-known soprano singer Laura Wright, who will be performing alongside the Alder Hey Singers.
Check out the Lucky 15s in the Equestrian Centre
Head over to the Equestrian Centre during the opening day and Friday to catch the Lucky 15s live on stage. They are a Manchester-based band that’s becoming renowned as the “premier Irish party” act in the city. They recently appeared at the Cheltenham Festival in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, and you can expect plenty of toe-tapping Celtic tunes across both days.
Other live acts to watch
Once the racing ends on all three days, the Equestrian Centre sees The Wickermen take to the stage. The Liverpool group are one of the most in-demand rock bands in the north-west music scene. Established back in 1992, these guys are still going strong and are sure to play plenty of ‘the hits’ to get you moving.
At the end of Friday’s racing, Aintree will come alive with #FabulousFriday. A headline DJ set from none other than Craig Charles will get Ladies’ Day bouncing on the Red Rum Lawn – with or without their race winnings!
There’s plenty more live music stages across the racecourse too. The Red Rum Garden will play host to Loveshack, who will be performing throughout all three days. The Garden Bar will be home to the Witty Featherstones, while the Moet Bandstand sees the Love Bugs play live. Diners in the Sunloch Restaurant will also be able to take in the dulcet tones of singer-songwriter Scott Chapman.
Tickets for the opening day of the Grand National Festival are still widely available, with prices starting from £30. Festival Zone tickets are also available for Ladies’ Day, as well as a host of iconic Aintree hospitality packages. The Festival Zone is also available for the Grand National Day, giving you access to the Aintree Parade Ring from just £80.
