West 34 Restaurant Review

Unfortunately, West 34 is now permanently closed.

Last week, West 34 welcomed various guests to try out their brand new Seafood menu. The restaurant, situated on Banks Road, offers an eclectic menu looking to entice diners from across the region.

Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted with a glass of fizz and asked to take a seat. When we first entered, it was fairly quiet as we had booked for an earlier seating. Although there were still bar staff preparing for the evening, it added to the atmosphere that this would be a vibrant night to showcase their new menu in the best way possible.

As we were taken to our seats, the atmosphere began to pick up. We were introduced to our waiter who introduced himself in a friendly manner showing genuine interest in our experience. The interior of the restaurant is a relaxed yet stylish look that makes for an on-trend fine dining venue in the area. It reminds me of dining in the Albert Dock with the nautical theme and carefully selected decor.

We selected our mains and ordered a glass of the Italian Pinot Grigio Rosato – a beautiful wine with equally delicate cherry and strawberry aromas leaving the palate packed full of flavour. I was in the mood for something light, which was a perfect fit for seafood dining.

For a starter, I ordered the Skagen Prawns. The Swedish dish was lovely and light with delicately balanced flavours. Service between courses was extremely efficient running like clockwork. I followed my starter with the Pecan & Orange Salmon Salad after recommendation from our lovely waiter. The orange zest perfectly complimented the salmon on a bed of spinach.

To finish our dining experience, we opted for a variety of desserts ordering a cheese board and a Chocolate Bomb. Described as ‘Theatre at the table’ we couldn’t come to order anything else. The board offered a great variety of cheese on a bed of thin crackers and made for a fantastic wine accompaniment. The chocolate bomb arrived followed by another waiter who poured melted chocolate that cracked open the bomb to reveal a sea of rich flavours.

Our dining experience was perfect from the moment we entered to the moment we left. I would certainly recommend West 34 as the perfect dining experience for late afternoon lunch/early evening dinner finished with a walk around the lake. It’s about time Wirral had an trendy destination offering exquisite food and great service.
