Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience Returns to Cheshire This Christmas
Harry Potter fans are in for a magical treat this winter as Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience returns to Cheshire, bringing an enchanting illuminated woodland adventure to Bolesworth Castle near Chester from 10 December 2026.
Following hugely popular runs at Arley Hall & Gardens in 2021 and 2022, which attracted more than 180,000 visitors, the immersive nighttime experience is making its long-awaited UK return with brand-new attractions, magical creatures and interactive surprises.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Bolesworth Castle, the experience promises to transport visitors into the wizarding world of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts, making it a fantastic festive outing for families, friends and fans of all ages.
Visitors will embark on a spectacular 1.95km illuminated woodland trail, where atmospheric lighting, enchanting soundscapes and interactive installations bring the magic of the Forbidden Forest to life.
Along the way, guests can encounter some of the wizarding world’s most recognisable magical creatures, including the majestic Hippogriff and mischievous Niffler.
The trail combines cutting-edge projections, special effects and immersive storytelling to create a magical journey through the forest after dark.
This year’s experience will also introduce new attractions to UK audiences, including a mysterious Golden Egg and an encounter with a Death Eater.

Cast Spells, Meet Magical Creatures and Capture the Moment
There’s plenty more to discover beyond the illuminated woodland trail, with interactive activities and photo opportunities throughout the experience.
Visitors can test their spellcasting skills in a wand duel, attempt to summon their very own Patronus and explore installations inspired by iconic moments from the Harry Potter films.
Fans will also have the opportunity to capture memorable photographs alongside wizarding world favourites, including Hagrid and Quidditch-themed displays.
At the end of the trail, a themed village will offer visitors the chance to warm up with food and drinks inspired by the wizarding world, as well as browse official Harry Potter merchandise and exclusive souvenirs.

Joana Da Silva Pina, Strategic Team Lead at Fever, said: “There’s nowhere quite like the UK to experience the magic of Harry Potter, and we’re thrilled to bring A Forbidden Forest Experience back after two incredible runs in Manchester. This time, Bolesworth Castle will provide the perfect setting for fans to celebrate the wizarding world after dark, with new surprises joining some of the moments visitors already know and love. We can’t wait for both first-time guests and returning fans to experience what’s waiting in the forest.”
The experience has already welcomed more than three million visitors across four continents and 16 cities worldwide, with over 75,000 trees planted as part of an environmental initiative connected to the event.
