Theatre in the Rough Launches Leadership Lab to Empower Young Arts Leaders

Liverpool’s Theatre in the Rough is launching Leadership Lab, a free initiative focusing on skills development and mentoring for aspiring arts leaders aged under 25.

Integrated into the charity’s expanded Youth Advisory Board, Leadership Lab will combine regular training sessions, project creation, and hands-on leadership experience.

Participants will engage in workshops covering artistic vision, project management, fundraising, marketing, and career planning in the creative sector.

They will also receive a £300 budget and a £150 seed commission to launch their mini arts project, activating the skills built during the workshops.

Chris Fittock, Director of Theatre in the Rough, said: “With Leadership Lab, we aim to directly empower talented young creatives to shape the artistic work they care deeply about. In a climate where young artists increasingly must produce and promote their own work, Leadership Lab gives aspiring creatives a launching pad to fully own and execute an arts project.”

Participants must be aged 25 or under and live in the Liverpool City Region. An application pack and more information can be found at theatreintherough.com/leadership-lab.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 25 February 2024.
