Royal Albert Dock & Liverpool ONE present The Walk of Stars

Two of Liverpool’s most iconic destinations – Royal Albert Dock and Liverpool ONE – are teaming up to bring a slice of Hollywood sparkle to the city this May with a brand new Walk of Stars installation.

In celebration of Radio 1’s Big Weekend, which hits Liverpool later this month, more than 70 stars will line the route from Liverpool ONE to Royal Albert Dock from 2 to 26 May, each bearing the name of an artist performing at the highly anticipated festival. The immersive trail will give music fans the chance to snap selfies with their favourite performers’ names — from rising stars on the Introducing Stage to chart-topping headliners on the Main Stage.

Adding to the festivities, both Royal Albert Dock and Liverpool ONE will offer the public a chance to step into the spotlight themselves during the festival weekend. From 23-25 May, Royal Albert Dock will bring back its fan-favourite Time to Shine podiums outside the Martin Luther King Jr. Building — the same spot where Eurovision star Sam Ryder surprised fans last year. Visitors can step up and sing their hearts out on these open-air stages.

Meanwhile, at the Liverpool ONE end of the trail, the popular karaoke truck returns to Thomas Steers Way, ready to welcome budding vocalists eager to show off their talents in true festival style.

During Radio 1’s Big Weekend itself, visitors can enjoy live entertainment and interactive performances hosted by award-winning radio presenter Leanne Campbell, taking place from 1pm to 5pm each day at either end of the Walk of Stars.

Sean Morrison, Estate Manager at Royal Albert Dock, said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Liverpool ONE to bring this exciting Walk of Stars to life in the lead-up to Radio 1’s Big Weekend. Seeing the energy of music fans flow from the city centre down to our iconic waterfront, celebrating these incredible artists, will be fantastic.”

Donna Howitt, Place Strategy Director at Liverpool ONE, added: “There’s already a lot of excitement about Radio 1’s Big Weekend coming to Liverpool and I have no doubt that, as a city, we’ll throw a great party for everyone. The Walk of Stars that we’ve created with Royal Albert Dock will offer some truly special selfie moments, while our karaoke and podiums will give visitors the chance to shine and show off just how much talent we have here.”

This exciting collaboration sets the stage for a vibrant city-wide celebration, putting the spotlight on music, creativity, and the unique buzz of Liverpool in festival mode.
