Record Store Day 2025 In Liverpool: Liverpool’s Record Stores Gear Up for Vinyl Frenzy
April 12th will see Liverpool’s vinyl addicts queueing from the early morning to get their hands on limited releases and support their local music shop, as Record Store Day 2025 arrives.
Record Store Day is the biggest day in the calendar for independent and chain stores alike. Founded in the US in 2007 to help drive awareness and custom to stores which had seen sales drop with the advent of digital music, RSD now includes over 300 UK stores and includes artists ranging from Anderson Paak to English Teacher, and from Charlie Parker to children’s cartoon Bluey who have released a 7 inch single of their viral classic Burger Dog.
This year’s most wanted releases are Oasis’ singles collection Time Flies and Taylor Swift’s Fortnight 7 inch on white vinyl. This year RSD is also raising money and awareness for War Child, with £1 from the sale of records from artists such as The Boomtown Rats and CHVRCHES going directly to the charity.
In celebration of Record Store Day 2025 and Liverpool’s thriving vinyl-collecting community, independent record store owners have come together to create a map of 15 locally-owned record stores and 4 record fairs that cover the city centre, North and South Liverpool, and the Wirral. The printed maps were made possible thanks to Dead Air Records, Dig Vinyl and 81 Renshaw, with design by Jess Fairclough from Dead Air Records. You can pick up a copy of the map in your local record store.

Record shop aficionado James Howard always comes to Liverpool to get his RSD releases, making his first stop 81 Renshaw St. “I love 81 Renshaw because they are clearly so passionate about music. It’s great to see a big queue outside the shop and see the diverse range of people out buying records. Last year there were 15 and 16 year olds in the queue trying to get their Lil Wayne vinyls and I think that’s fantastic”.

As well as record shopping, music fans can also see live music for free at a number of Liverpool venues. Jacaranda Basement will be host to a number of acts from 10am, including a secret 11pm headliner. Artist Finnlay K who is also on the bill with his full band, is excited to be a part of Record Store Day. “It’s such a great day to focus on music, everyone comes out with such a positive attitude, and it’s not just about getting that rare vinyl, it’s supporting the local music scene.”
At Jacaranda, early birds will be rewarded — anyone in the queue by 8am will receive three months of free Jac Club membership. Over on Hanover Street, Rough Trade will also open its doors at 8am, with live performances from The Molotovs and Sara Wolff kicking off from 1pm. Meanwhile, Probe Records at the Bluecoat will be joining the action too, opening from 8am for all your RSD vinyl hunting needs.
