Pleasure Island Announce ‘Shallow Grave’ Single Release

Liverpool post punk duo Pleasure Island have announced the release of their first single of 2023, Shallow Grave. Following the release of Priory during the lockdowns, the band have been extensively touring the UK in preparation for the release.

The band have cited lack of funds as the chief cause of the 18 month delay between singles, with members of the band subject to periods of time without work and not eligible for furlough. Guitarist and vocalist Sean stated “Although the time was great for writing, we’ve needed quite a bit of time to pay off debts accumulated over the lockdown, before getting the money together to head back into the studio”.

Despite these problems, the band were still able to move quickly once lockdowns had cleared, going on to say “We’re in a fortunate position, as a two piece, that we have been able to get back on the road a lot easier thanks to lower touring costs than our peers. We’ve been aware of other Liverpool bands that have had to drop off festivals outside the city, because they can’t afford the train and hotel costs to get to the shows”.

The band are hoping to build on this momentum with the release, having recruited Al Groves of the Motor Museum to work on the new single.

Shallow Grave shall be available for streaming on 25 January with the band on tour from March onwards.
