My Big Fake Wedding Disco Is Coming Back To Liverpool
Imagine all of the best parts of a wedding. Imagine what really makes the biggest day of two people’s lives the best day for everyone gathered with them. In taking out the actual getting married part of ‘The Big Day’, what do you have left? Well, it’s My Big Fake Wedding Disco of course – with 100% dance floor bangers all night long.
Imagine all of those glorious elements – the dancing, the joy, cutting the cake, the energy, all the drinks – and distil them into something very familiar, yet also unique.
The inspired party is back at LEAF Bold Street on Saturday 11 May and is ready to re-invent the biggest celebration of all. Co-founders Chris Mac and Jules Bennett – a long-standing Bongo’s Bingo host and Liquidation co-founder respectively – both know a thing or three about holding court.
And that’s what My Big Fake Wedding Disco is all about. The best kind of party sound-tracked by disco, Motown, funk, indie, pop, cheese and power ballad classics, with a liberal smattering of silliness, love and tender embraces which combined make for a truly wild night out in Liverpool.
Chris explains: “We’ve all been to weddings, haven’t we? What Jules and I originally wanted to do was re-create that magic, just without the actual vows. Because how many times have you heard someone say – ‘I love a good wedding!’ And that’s the essence of what we’re doing again and bringing My Big Fake Wedding Disco back, blending all of that together. We’ve got prosecco on arrival for each guest and when tickets are booked, everyone’s got to chance to put themselves forward to be the bride and groom or groom and groom, or bride and bride for the night. And yes, this even includes catching the bouquet and cutting the cake. So make sure to save the date for this!”
Chris and Jules launched My Big Fake Wedding Disco a few years ago before taking a creative break. Then, when Chris got married himself, they decided it was time to bring the party back and become off-kilter wedding planners again, with their immersive few hours of near-matrimonial magic.
“My Big Fake Wedding Disco is mainly about the music – you’ve got 5 hours of the exact kind of set you’d hear at any good wedding,” Chris adds. “Then all of the extra parts which make it so special too, just not an actual marriage. LEAF’s perfect because they have lots of weddings and celebrations there already, so we know we’re going to fit in perfectly. We’re encouraging guests to dress sharp as though they are coming to one, and yes, we will have our suits on!”
