MCM Comic Con Liverpool 2017 Round-Up
TV, film, anime, comic book fans and gamerss turned out in their thousands for this year’s MCM Comic Con event in Liverpool which featured special guests including Flash Gordon (Sam J Jones) and the stars of Starsky & Hutch, Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky), David Soul (Hutch) and Antonio Fargas (Huggy Bear).
There was an incredible selection of comic creators in the Comic Village from comic book classics to independent unique publications on offer. It was good to see local Liverpool artists including Reva Comics and Frisson Comics amongst the traders.
The Victorian sci-fi inspired sub-culture Steampunk once again had it’s very own Steampunk Emporium which proved a popular attraction amongst the crowd who were drawn to the impressive creations on display. Some of our favourites included the Star Wars steampunk collection pictured below.
There were plenty of exhibitors to keep everyone happy with stands including Game, Universal Pictures, Manga Entertainment, Forbidden Planet, Tokyo Toys, Anime Limited, Esdevium Games and many more independent retailers who had shoppers snapping up all kinds of unique memorabilia.
The Iron Throne experience also went down well with the crowd giving fans of Game of Thrones the opportunity to have their picture taken in the iron throne replica.
Kids were also well catered for with free face painting and the reading corner provided a well earned retreat for kids and parents to relax from the hustle and bustle of the day.
Popular costume themes at this years event included Harley Quinn, The Joker, Game of Thrones and Deadpool – masks were on sale at many of the stands.
MCM Comic Con will return to the Convention Centre next year after signing a contract to host the event until 2020.
