Plans have been revealed for a major Christmas attraction at the heart of the city centre on Liverpool ONE’s Chavasse Park.
The Liverpool Alpine Village will officially open on the evening of 11 November.
A new 25-metre Christmas tree will sit at the centre of the attraction on Chavasse Park which itself stands 18 metres above sea level, making the new installation one of the highest artificial trees in the UK.
The new addition will replace the long established “love heart” Christmas tree on Paradise Street which will now be the location for a series of eight-metre neon trees ensuring that visitors can enjoy a vibrant new design this year.
Liverpool Alpine Village, which is presented by popular Christmas pop-up Bar Hütte, includes a wide range of activities to appeal to every member of the family, from curling, ‘prosecco pong’ and shuffleboard, to live music, market stalls and even wreath-making classes.
The much-loved karaoke will be returning helping to create a festive wonderland in the city.
Callum Winsper, operations manager at Liverpool Alpine Village, said: “Bar Hütte and its karaoke booths have become a Christmas staple at Liverpool ONE over the last six years, with groups of friends, colleagues and couples returning year after year.
“So, it’s incredibly exciting to be moving from our usual space on Paradise Street to a brand new and bigger space on Chavasse Park.
“Liverpool Alpine Village will have something for everyone. It’s guaranteed to be a big hit with those looking to get in the festive spirit and enjoy the countdown to Christmas and something a little different.”
The new yuletide additions will be complemented by the return of the much-loved reindeers and Christmas decorations across Liverpool ONE bringing the spirit of Christmas to the city centre.
Donna Howitt, Place Strategy Director at Liverpool ONE, added: “Christmas at Liverpool ONE and, indeed, the wider city is always a special time.
“Our much-recognised heart tree at Paradise Street had become synonymous with Christmas at Liverpool ONE and was a colourful, much-loved part of our decorations.
“But, Liverpool ONE is always changing and evolving and prides itself on always bringing something new for all of our visitors, so to be installing a new tree as a central point of the Liverpool Alpine Village at Chavasse Park is very exciting for us.
“Not only will it provide a fantastic vista for those enjoying food and drink at our restaurants on The Terrace, but it will also be the centre piece of a new attraction at Chavasse Park and visible right across our famous waterfront.”
“We invest in efficient Christmas lighting and maintain a high quality scheme for visitors to enjoy, for free, which we hope will be well received.”
And as part of Liverpool ONE’s continued support of the local community a special ONE More Campaign will also be launched this Christmas. This will encourage visitors to donate “one more” gift or donate “one more” meal to support families across the Liverpool City Region during these challenging times.
Donna added: “We know that, while Christmas is an exciting time, it also brings a lot of stress and financial pressure to lots of families across the area, especially during the current climate.
“That’s why we’ve decided to launch our ONE More Campaign. We’re asking visitors to consider whether they can donate the value of one more gift or one more meal when they visit Liverpool ONE, helping to ease the pressure on local families this year and in turn making a small difference to their Christmases.”
