British-Kurdish Stand Up Comedian Kae Kurd Announces Liverpool Date As Part of Autumn Tour
Smart, sharp and brilliantly funny, British-Kurdish stand up comedian and social media star Kae Kurd has announced an autumn UK headline tour that will feature his biggest shows to date. Kicking off on 22 September, Kae will take his incredible show up and down the country, visiting Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre on Saturday 14 October 2023.
Kae Kurd is making a serious name for himself and is recognised as one of the UK’s fastest rising comedy stars, celebrated for creating and curating extensive online content across a range of platforms to such viral success.
His debut stand up special Kurd Your Enthusiasm was a huge success receiving over 100K views when released on YouTube, and his debut solo tour The Spoken Kurd achieved smash hit success, with numerous shows selling out in record time.
His TV credits include: Live at the Apollo (BBC Two) as both performer and host this year, Mock the Week (BBC Two), Celebrity Masterchef (BBC One), Comedians Giving Lectures (Dave) and Don’t Hate the Playaz (ITV2). He is also lead writer and voice of ITV’s new dating format Loaded in Paradise.
Kae is also a hugely in demand writer. Credits include Bad Chefs (ITV2), Munya Chawawa’s Race Around Britain (YouTube Originals), Crouchy’s Year Late Euros (BBC One), Celebrity Juice (ITV2), Cunk & Other Humans (BBC Two) Redknapp’s Big Night Out (Sky One), Have I Got News For You (BBC Two) and League of Their Own (Sky One).
Kae came to Britain at 6 months old as a refugee. His parents had been part of the Kurdish resistance movement against Saddam Hussein’s Iraqi government and were forced to flee as refugees. “At my age, my father was running at tanks“, he comments. His parents then fled to Iran, where he was born. Partly as a result of his father being injured in a poison gas attack in Iraq, his family were accepted as refugees and settled in Brixton, South London, where he still lives.
With a comedy routine that focuses on issues of race, identity, and growing up Kurdish in the UK, Kae started out on the black comedy circuit in 2011 and has thrived on the scene for a number of years. As someone from a nation without an independent state, “your whole existence is about trying to find an identity or to speak up for your identity”, Kurd said.
With his unique brand of comedy, tackling important issues with pure wit, Kae is one of the most exciting comedians on the circuit.
