The Bootle Arms Reopens with Family-Focused Makeover – Locals Invited to Share Memories for a Free Pint
The Bootle Arms in Melling, Liverpool, is set to reopen with a brand-new look and family-friendly concept on Tuesday 23 July, just in time for the summer holidays.
The much-loved community pub is one of the first Marston’s venues to relaunch under the new ‘Woodie’s’ brand – a playful, welcoming concept designed to bring families together through good food, entertainment, and magical experiences for all ages.
The transformation includes Woodie’s Den, a woodland-themed indoor space packed with games, crafts, karaoke, and disco nights for the kids, as well as a brand-new outdoor play area and a self-serve sweet factory offering treats in exchange for magic tokens. Grown-ups can enjoy a relaxing drink or meal in stylish new surroundings, with designated adult areas ensuring comfort for all visitors.
To celebrate the relaunch, The Bootle Arms will host an all-day Family Festival on Saturday 26 July, featuring live music from Paul Connor (The Voice UK), a bouncy castle, face painting, kids’ crafts, disco, and more. Families with babies born in the past year are being offered VIP treatment, with newborns receiving an exclusive Woodie’s onesie to mark the occasion.

As part of the celebrations, Marston’s is also giving away free pints over the opening weekend in exchange for personal stories about the pub’s past. Shared memories will feature on a community memory wall, giving locals the chance to be part of the new chapter from the very beginning.
In addition to pub classics and Marston’s award-winning kids’ menu, The Bootle Arms will run special offers throughout summer, including Kids Eat for £1 deals and free kids’ meals every Wednesday, helping families dine out affordably during the school holidays.
Grant Pinches, General Manager at The Bootle Arms, said: “We’re so excited to be one of the first Marston’s pubs transforming into a Woodie’s. The Bootle Arms has always been a vital part of our community, and we can’t wait to welcome local families back to create new memories together.”
The Bootle Arms is currently closed for refurbishment and will reopen its doors on 23 July.
