Famous UK Landmarks: Do Brits Really Know Where To Find Them
The UK is filled with many famous landmarks in both the north and the south which is why so many people flock to visit them every year. These visitors are both UK natives as well as international tourists with Britain bringing in around 1.3 million visitors between July and September alone last year.
These landmarks are both manmade as well as natural so you really do get to see everything when you witness UK landmarks. It does beg the question though, do Brits know where they can be found?
Fortunately, online bingo games provider Jackpotjoy recently conducted research which provided some interesting results.
Do Brits know where the following famous landmarks are?
During this survey, the British public was asked where a list of famous landmarks were and whilst some locations were accurately guessed, many of the others were, quite frankly, miles off. Read on to find out more.
Big Ben
Thankfully, this was one of the landmarks that many Brits knew with 85% guessing correctly. Slap bang in the middle of London, the only thing that I’m surprised at is that 15% of those surveyed got it wrong.
Buckingham Palace
Another with an 85% successful guess rate although it is slightly concerning that quite a few people don’t know where the longest-serving monarch in UK history resides in the capital city of England.
Sherwood Forest
Clearly not enough people are familiar with Robin Hood and his merry men. Just 74% of people knew that Sherwood Forest was located in Nottingham. This wonderful forest is home to many great trails for the whole family to love.
Angel of the North
With just over 50% of correct guesses, we’re perplexed that people aren’t aware that this landmark is of course in Tyne & Wear. This is a true symbol that you have reached the north of England which is why it is so famous!
Snowdon
Located in Bets-y-coed in Wales – not that 59% of surveyed people would know that though. This iconic landmark is famous for many reasons but none more so than the infamous mountain that attracts many hikers every day of the year.
Arthur’s Seat
Located in Edinburgh, this landmark had just a 34% successful guess rate which surprises us because we believe everyone should know exactly where this beautiful spot is located so it can be enjoyed with loved ones.
Planning your trip to a UK landmark
Now that you know where these famous landmarks are, it’s time to plan your own trip to visit them. Make sure you book your transport in advance for savings, ensure your accommodation has enough beds and take enough spending money to treat yourself on your getaway.
