El Gato Negro Liverpool To Relocate To New Home On Castle Street

MHDL, the multi-site restaurant operator, is excited to announce that their award-winning tapas concept, El Gato Negro, will be moving from its current home on Exchange Flags to a new location on Castle Street, taking over the much-loved site currently occupied by Viva Brazil.

This move marks the next chapter for El Gato Negro in Liverpool, building on its reputation for modern Spanish cuisine in the city. The relocation is scheduled for March 2024, with the current El Gato Negro site at Exchange Flags trading as usual until then.

“We’re delighted to be moving El Gato Negro to its new home on Castle Street and making way for something exciting to come in its place at Exchange Flags. This relocation allows us to bring El Gato Negro to one of Liverpool’s most iconic streets, while also paving the way for a dynamic new venue later in the year. We’re also pleased to confirm that all current Viva Brazil staff will be retained as part of this transition,” said Simon Shaw, chef patron and creative director at MHDL.

The move ensures continuity and job security for employees, and an exciting new beginning for the space, which will be transformed into a stylish and welcoming home for El Gato Negro. Guests can continue to enjoy the full El Gato Negro experience at Exchange Flags until the move, with an added incentive to visit in January as the restaurant is offering 40% off food bills (T&Cs apply) throughout the month.

Additionally, the site at Exchange Flags will be turned into an exciting new venue later in the year, with further details to be revealed soon.

MHDL and the El Gato Negro team look forward to welcoming guests to the new Castle Street location in March 2024. Further details, including the official opening date, will be announced in the coming months.
