Dylan Robert Releases Film Credits-Ready Indie Pop Anthem ‘Harper’s Tune’
With a name chosen as a tribute to Bob Dylan, Liverpool singer-songwriter and rising talent Dylan Robert makes upbeat and high energy indie pop-rock, alongside his band (Ethen Gaylard on bass, Issac Grover on lead guitar and Jamie Alsamarraie on drums).
Dylan has previously released a couple of singles dating back to 2021; however it was with the release of Broken by Design that saw Dylan break out to a wider audience, with the track receiving glowing praise from various music outlets. Now he’s followed it up with the official release of new single Harper’s Tune, after playing the song for audiences across his live performances this year.
Describing the song as being about the struggle of “holding onto love amid life’s harsh realities”, Dylan explains; “the song imagines a perfect relationship existing only in your mind.” Contrasting the introspective lyrics, the fast-paced track certainly packs a punch with instantly catchy, wailing lead guitar melodies and Dylan’s soulful vocals, where the echoes of Coldplay and John Mayer can be heard. The structure progresses nicely, the thrashing drums reaching a build-up in the bridge that makes the final chorus really land. Having been recorded at Liverpool’s Motor Museum and Whitewood Studios, the production is top notch.
Harper’s Tune encapsulates a sugary nostalgic feel, that sounds like it should be playing over the closing credits of a TV show (in the best way possible). You know, the type that your fingers scramble to ‘shazam’ before the next episode on auto play suddenly cuts off the music. Aside from the clear film and TV sync potential, Dylan Robert has been making waves in the UK indie music scene, drawing acclaim at events including the Isle of Wight Festival, his first-ever London show in September and his support for Liverpool legends The Zutons in October.
In addition to playing two sold out headline hometown shows this year, he has recently earned a spot as one This Feeling’s ‘Big in 24’ artists. Dylan has been on a roll, and will no doubt continue to draw more listeners in with his emotive and energetic indie-pop anthems.
Fans can catch him in upcoming gig supporting Toy Car at Liverpool’s Jacaranda Baltic on 21 December.
