Def.fo Releases Slow Burning Groove ‘Godly’
Def.fo is quickly earning a name as Liverpool’s freshest psychedelic, trip-hop artist as he prepares to release new single Godly.
“Inspired by the rich mysteries of life and the boundless expanse of the universe”, Godly presents itself as a slow burning groove before drawing in its listeners early on with an elevating chorus that’s eagerly welcomed back the second time around.
A steady incline into an ethereal realm of bass synths and layered vocals over a solid trip-hop beat, Godly keeps us guessing where it will go next in a soundly produced haze which ends almost too soon.
Def.fo is the collaborative effort of father and son duo Tom Powell and producer Steve Powell (The Strands, John Power, and The Stairs). Godly will be the third release from the upcoming album Eternity which features Tom on vocals, guitar, and bass alongside the heavy drumbeats of Jake Woodward (Nova Twins, Peter Perrett).

Fresh from joining Michael Head and the Red Elastic Band on bass on tour in Japan earlier this year, Tom is ready to share his own cosmic creation. With flawless 90’s inspired production and thought-provoking lyrics it won’t be long before Godly finds its place in the world of retro psychedelic rock amongst the likes of Tame Impala and Beck.
Godly is out today, stream it the track here. The album Eternity is released on the 15 December.
