Campervan Staycations Near A Beach

Did you know you don’t have to travel far to have a beach holiday? The UK is brimming with coastline destinations for your next staycation holiday. Whether you’re booking a hotel room or relaxing in a cabin with a hot tub or hiring out a motorhome, there’s a location for everyone to enjoy.

If you are planning on hiring a motorhome for your staycation, make sure you take out motorhome insurance to ensure that you are fully protected in case of an emergency or accident. Here are some of the best locations for a sunny coastal drive across the UK for summer 2022.

St Ives in Cornwall

No UK Road trip list is complete without Cornwall – so wild yet sophisticated at the same time. Some of the key sites to see whilst in Cornwall are located in St. Ives, a family favourite and tourist hotspot. It is no surprise, as St Ives has it all: beaches, gulls, galleries, crowds, yummy foods.

However, if you travel the coast by road, you will find yourself in a completely different world, and you are able to explore all the nature and privacy that Cornwall has to offer. The majority of the roads in Cornwall consist of a winding coastal road with breath taking stops along the way, and there are many great places to stop and stretch your legs.

The Copper Coast, Ireland

This short and quick route is not to be missed! From Hook Head to Dungarvan, explore the wealth of geology, history, sand, surf and of course some great seafood along the way. Start at Hook Head, the oldest operating lighthouse in the world, then ride the Passage East boat to Dunmore East – the perfect day trip on your motorhome holiday. Tramore, a popular tourist attraction and spot with the locals, is where you will find some great surfing sports, ice cream and attractions that all the family will enjoy.

Another popular activity to do whilst travelling the copper coast is to visit Guillamene Cove, to go swimming in open water – here you will see a variety of different sea life up close and in person. Close by is the renowned copper mining region known as the Copper Coast Global Geopark. As you wander along the beachfront road, you will see abandoned engine houses, which make a great afternoon out!

For Giants And Beaches, Northern Ireland

If you only have time to do one driving route, the For Giants and beaches is an original and firm favourite. From beginning to end, there are endless amazing views and fleeting glimpses of the ocean. In certain areas along the road, you can go for hours along the water’s edge while driving beneath enormous cliffs, bypassing towns and ports and marvelling at every turn. Visitors can make pit stops at the renowned Giant’s Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and walk The Gobbins Path, a recently renovated coastal path that had been inactive for more than 60 years prior to renovations.
