BOXPARK Liverpool Announces Food Traders
Award-winning dining, retail and leisure operator BOXPARK, opening to the public on 19 April 2024, has today announced the eight incredible food traders for their first venue outside of London.
Focussing on emerging and independent street food businesses from Liverpool and the surrounding areas, the eight kitchens and one kiosk at BOXPARK Liverpool will offer an array of mouth-watering cuisines from across the globe, ensuring there’s a carefully curated offer for all visitors. The three London BOXPARK venues are known for championing local and emerging street food businesses, so are excited to be doing the same in Liverpool.Â
BOXPARK CEO Simon Champion, comments on the trader announcement: “After months of sampling the best cuisines the North West has to offer, we are delighted to be able to finally announce the eight traders that will join BOXPARK Liverpool when we open the doors next month. We are so impressed with the talent in the city, and we can’t wait to give the traders a platform to expand their businesses and enhance the already impressive food and drink offering the city boasts.”
Crazy Pedro’sÂ
Serving up New York style pizzas by full sixteen inches or by the slice will be Crazy Pedro’s. BOXPARK Liverpool will be the pizzeria’s second site in the city and customers can expect all the classic toppings and flavour combinations alongside some of Crazy Pedro’s special signature toppings.Â
“We can’t wait to get open and start the journey with the gang over at BOXPARK – we’re excited to make a bunch of new friends and sling our pizzas in a different part of this great city! It’s looking like it’s going to be loads of fun and we’re buzzing to do what we do over in the Baltic Triangle.” Jobe Ferguson, Crazy Pedro’s
Rose Street Falafel (from the founders of Maray)
Rose Street Falafel started life in the streets of Paris in 2012, inspired by the famously competitive and passionate falafel vendors that line the length of Rue Des Rosiers, a narrow, cobbled walkway tucked into the vibrant storybook district of Le Marais. Founders James and Tom returned from their travels with a mission to serve the best falafel possible and the result was to become the award-winning restaurant group Maray which now operates three restaurants across Liverpool and Manchester.
Rose Street Falafel is a journey back to the beginning of the story, a celebration of the sandwich that started it all. Expect delicious falafel, full-to-the-brim pittas, halloumi bites, crispy fries and tahini soft serve ice cream.
James Bates, Co-Founder; Rose Street Falafel said: “We can’t wait to launch Rose Street Falafel at BOXPARK Liverpool in April. Rose Street has been long in the making; the original Maray was due to be a falafel cafe when we opened in 2014! We’ve been perfecting the Maray falafel recipe for the last ten years and so we’re super excited to give it the opportunity to be front and centre.
We’re long-term fans of BOXPARK and have admired it from afar. When the opportunity came to be part of the Liverpool site it was a no brainer for us to put the Rose Street Falafel brand forward to be involved, especially given its location in the Baltic Triangle amongst the creative communities.
Our menu is going to be small but perfectly formed, with fluffy falafel pitta being the hero and star of the show. We’re also serving halloumi pittas, falafel and halloumi mezze boxes, pillowy pitta and hummus and soft serve ice cream with some fun and interesting toppings.”
Madre BurritoÂ
Another local favourite joining BOXPARK Liverpool is Madre. A modern Mexican restaurant serving authentic tacos, quesadillas & margaritas in a relaxed vibe. The Madre family was assembled in 2019 by the people behind Belzan in Liverpool, and Breddos in London with a mission to bring home everything they learned about the food, drink, and hospitality of Mexico.Â
“Joining the offering at BOXPARK is an exciting prospect; we love that some of the city’s best food and drink traders are operating under one roof. We aim to deliver amazing moments of Mexican food culture and at BOXPARK we will be doing that with Madre Burrito! Inspired by the streets of Sonora we will be serving up amazing Burritos full of flavour! Que Rico!”
SHAKE?
Specialising in a no-fail menu of burgers and milkshakes, SHAKE? will offer visitors the chance to try a stripped back menu of some of the best burgers in town. Full of big flavour and taste, visitors won’t be disappointed.Â
“We are incredibly excited to be a part of the new BOXPARK Liverpool and Baltic Triangle community. We cannot wait to finally open and to work alongside so many talented independents from around the city who we have admired for so long. We are bringing the best LA-style smash burgers to the Baltic Triangle alongside all your favourite sides and milkshakes! Although we aren’t afraid to admit we have a bit of a sweet tooth therefore we thought it was only right we bring something different to this menu. Exclusive to BOXPARK Liverpool, we will be serving all your favourite nostalgic soft serve flavours all year round with flavours changing seasonally. Summer 2024 is right around the corner, and we can’t wait to kick it off and meet everyone at BOXPARK Liverpool!”
Simply Salt N PepperÂ
As the unofficial spice of Liverpool, Simply Salt & Pepper, owned by the same people behind Pan-Asian Liverpool restaurant Zenn, had to be one of the eight food traders at BOXPARK Liverpool. Fusing the famous Asian seasoning, invented in the 1960’s in a Chinese immigrant owned fish & chip shop in Liverpool with a variety of dishes from around the globe, foodies can expect tasty, filling, fresh food, seasoned to perfection with the infamous spice.Â
“We are extremely excited to be joining the BOXPARK line up. BOXPARK has established itself as a dominant force in the multi use event space market in London, and we can’t wait to put our brand alongside it. Simply Salt & Pepper is already a hit with the local crowd.”
Pukht
Pukht takes global favourites like burgers, tacos, burritos, gyros and adds an Indian and Pakistani twist. Expect all the classics including samosas chaats and chaat bombs, but with a Pukht twist. Founded during lockdown, Pukht gained popularity with locals in Cheshire before landing at Hatch in Manchester City Centre. Following the opening of a second venue in Cheshire in November 2023 due to overwhelming demand, the team will now bring their Pukht flavours to BOXPARK Liverpool.
Forever perfecting their dishes and bringing the customer something new, Pukht food is fast, fresh and tasty with a focus on fresh ingredients.
“It’s an honour for Pukht to be joining the Baltic Triangle community with BOXPARK. Being big fans of the Liverpool music scene from back in the 90’s and enjoying countless nights out in the triangle, it’s a pinch me moment to become a part of that offering.
As regulars at the BOXPARK sites in London, it was a no brainer for us to apply to be part of the first site in the North. After nearly two years of chasing the BOXPARK Liverpool dream, we can’t wait to bring our Indo-Pakistani twist on global favourites to the Baltic Triangle, BOXPARK is all about the vibe, the culture and the atmosphere which aligns perfectly with our food and core values of putting people at the heart of what we do.”
Yoki Social TableÂ
Launched to introduce Manchester to the exciting flavours of Korean Fried Chicken (KFC), Yoki is spreading its North West wings with a second site at BOXPARK Liverpool, offering diners the opportunity to try authentic and deliciously flavoursome Korean street food. From fried mandu to vegan Bibimap, Yoki is a must-visit for all street food lovers looking for authentic Korean cuisine.
“We YOKI “요키”, are thrilled and excited about the new journey with BOXPARK Liverpool. Throughout our experience in YOKI Manchester and Sheffield, we are confident we can bring Korean soul foods and the Authentic taste of Korea to Liverpool and the Baltic Triangle community.”
Yum ChaÂ
Bringing a neon-coloured, casual dining take on traditional Chinese classics will be Yum Cha. Serving Chinese roasted meats, a selection of freshly made steamed and fried dumplings, as well as rice and noodle dishes, visitors can indulge in all their favourite Chinese dishes. The venue will be Yum Cha’s third site alongside its restaurants on Lark Lane and in Manchester city centre.Â
