Following a two-year hiatus, bluedot festival was back with a bang this weekend. The award-winning music, science and culture festival is hosted at Jodrell Bank Observatory, the home of the awe-inspiring Lovell Telescope – one of the biggest telescopes in the world and an icon of global astronomy.
20,000 festival goers descending to UNESCO World Heritage Site for an incredible four days of music and cosmic culture. Crowds enjoyed headline performances from Björk and The Halle Orchestra, Mogwai, Groove Armada and Metronomy as well as talks from astronaut Tim Peake and a special online appearance from Professor Brian Cox.
There was also stand-out performances from Yard Act, Hannah Peel, Tim Burgess, Porridge Radio, Lanterns On The Lake and many more.
The jam-packed family programme also included Brainiac Live and Clangers, alongside a whole host of family activities with science talks, workshops, games and so much more. The family-oriented festival provides so much for the whole family to see and do, there’s never a dull moment.

bluedot 2023 is the sixth chapter of the unique festival, named Best Medium Festival at the UK Festival Awards, which has seen headline performances from the likes of Björk and The Halle Orchestra, Mogwai, Groove Armada, Kraftwerk 3-D, New Order, The Chemical Brothers, Pixies, The Flaming Lips, Underworld andJean-Michel Jarre, plus high-profile talks from Tim Peake, Brian Cox, Helen Sharman and Richard Dawkins.
