There are plenty of places across Liverpool’s surrounding areas where you can venture to pick out your favourite pumpkin to carve into your best spooky or fun design. We’ve rounded up a list of eight of the best pumpkin patches near Liverpool for you to choose from for a fun-filled day out.

Claremont Farm is a local gem known for its locally sourced fresh produce, quaint farm shop and fantastic pumpkin patch. Bring the whole family and explore the fields as you pick out your favourite pumpkins. They often host seasonal events and activities, making it an ideal day out for all.

The patch is free to enter and you just pay for what you pick with a price per kg to be confirmed. When you’ve made your selection, you might want to stop for a spot of lunch at the Claremont Farm Cafe and indulge in lovely homemade recipes.

Another free to enter patch is The Pumpkin Patch Hightown. Renowned for their huge variety of homegrown pumpkins, squashes and gourds, they’re open daily throughout October. They have a picnic area with a catering van serving refreshments, and onsite toilets, meaning you’re set up for a full day out. There’s even a free maze cut into five acres of maize crop for visitors to enjoy.

All of the major holidays are marked with a big fun-filled event and Halloween is no different, with the Family Fright Festival making its return this year. Pre-booking is essential to avoid disappointment as the festival is likely to sell out. With full day and part day tickets available, the festival consists of farm park access, a free tractor ride to the pumpkin patch, and plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained all day.

Their famous Pumpkin Picking Adventure is back again for another year, and each ticket includes admission to the farm, animal interactions and activities featuring the Runaway Farm Train and a family of Maize Monsters! One pumpkin is included with each ticket and you’re welcome to purchase more during your trip.

You may also purchase ready-picked pumpkins of all shapes and sizes from the onsite farm shop. The farm has even partnered up with two photographers to offer professional photo shoots for families in front of the Instagram-worthy backdrops.

On weekends you can take part in many other activities such as pumpkin chess, owl interactions, face painting, handmade gift stalls, a bouncy castle, and sand art. There is outdoor seating so you can enjoy a drink from the Don Pedro coffee cart. Most activities accept card payments, but it’s advisable to bring cash for some extras like the bouncy castle. Overall, it’s a great value day out for families, with an average visit lasting around 3 hours.
