Abditory Wine Club

Wednesday could be referred to as ‘Hump Day’ – however the team at Abditory tucked away on Liverpool’s magical Queen Avenue have decided to give it a much better purpose as the day for their monthly wine club!

6 wines from expert suppliers, a glass of fizz on arrival and some wonderful paired nibbles sets up a fantastic evening of fun while learning about a host of different wines from around the world.

We started our evening moving from two white wines, then two rosé wines before finishing off with a couple of reds. Our wine host Laura Griffiths from LingoVino talked us through some differences between New and Old World wines, with no answer from the packed room of amateur wine fans too daft (tastes like Wimbledon grass being a personal favourite) along with some key indicators of particular grapes and how to pick out flavours and notes such as acidity, sweetness and tanin levels.

Abditory Bar
Abditory is located on the wonderful Queen Avenue

The whole set up made for a great event and the owners, who are also behind Castle Street’s Bobo, have a fine selection of choice with a seperate wine night being held in their sister bar.

So, if you’ve ever felt like you want to brush up on a bit of wine knowledge, you’re a complete beginner or, like myself just love a few glasses of wine in good company, you’d be in safe hands booking onto their next event on the 14 September!

Tickets available through their website or speak to a member of staff at the bar. It’s well worth a visit anyway!
