Almost Famous Burger Chain Closes With Immediate Effect
Almost Famous, the popular burger chain that began in Manchester’s Northern Quarter in 2012, has announced the closure of all its restaurants in Manchester, Liverpool, and Leeds. Founder Beau Myers cited economic challenges, lingering debt from the COVID-19 pandemic, and rising operational costs as the primary reasons for the decision.
In a statement released on 27 January 2025, Myers expressed deep regret over the closures, acknowledging the dedication of the staff and the support of loyal customers over the past 13 years. He emphasised that despite their best efforts, the current economic climate made it untenable to continue operations.
It means that Liverpool’s Almost Famous restaurant on Parr St has closed its doors with immediate effect.
Almost Famous Full Statement of Closure
It is with broken hearts and tearful eyes that we must announce the closure of Almost Famous.
The current economic climate has proven too challenging for us to overcome. The lingering debt from Covid, rising costs across every aspect of the business, and a tightening in people’s ability to spend on dining out have created an impossible situation. Despite our best efforts, we are no longer able to continue. Ironically, while our venues remain busy and our reviews are glowing, the financial pressures stacked against us have made it impossible to sustain the business- making this scenario even more heartbreaking.
For over 13 incredible years, Almost Famous has been at the forefront of the burger and casual dining scene. We’ve served over a million burgers, hosted countless amazing guests, and had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented and passionate people in hospitality. It has been an unforgettable journey, and we hope we’ve been able to create lasting memories, happy moments, and plenty of smiles along the way.
All we ever wanted was to make incredible burgers and provide good times. That mission drove us every single day.
Our team has been like family to us, and this is the hardest part of all. To our amazing staff, we are deeply sorry that we couldn’t weather the storm for you. Please know we will do everything we can to support you during this transition.
If anyone in the hospitality industry has job opportunities, we kindly ask you to reach out to us at [email protected] – helping our team find new roles is our top priority right now.
To everyone who’s been part of our story – thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The memories we’ve made together will stay with us forever.
This isn’t how we wanted the story to end, but we are proud of everything we accomplished and the joy we brought to so many. And while we must say goodbye for now, we hold onto the hope that Almost Famous may return one day in some form.
Anyone with any ideas, opportunities or anything positive please also hit [email protected] – no neg please we feel bad enough already.
The chain had previously faced challenges, including the closure of its Withington branch in 2022 due to low footfall. In May 2024, Almost Famous offered a 50% discount on burgers in an attempt to boost sales amid financial difficulties.
Despite the closures, Myers confirmed that their late-night burger spot, Super Awesome Deluxe, and the underground bar, Ego Death, both located in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, will remain operational. The company is also assisting affected staff in finding new employment opportunities within the hospitality industry.
