‘Alcotraz’ Prison-Themed Immersive Cocktail Experience Is Coming to Liverpool

Alcotraz: Cell Block Three-Six, will be unlocking its doors this March and welcoming inmates looking for a unique immersive theatrical experience and world-class cocktails.

Alcotraz is the notorious bar behind bars, where guests – or more appropriately ‘inmates’ – are tasked with smuggling liquor past the Warden and getting it into the hands of some of Alcotraz’s longest-serving inmates, who then transform the contraband liquor into delicious cocktails.

Combining world-class cocktails with a theatrical storyline, Alcotraz is a unique drinking experience where the guests become part of the story.  Encountering a cast of actors who bring to life the detailed and intricate immersive storyline whilst guests serve their time, Alcotraz has firmly established itself as a leading alternative-night out.

Located in the heart of Liverpool, this latest penitentiary from Alcotraz will be taking things to the next level. Comprising of a dramatic cell block of 10 individual cells, Alcotraz Liverpool will accommodate 50 inmates for public experiences or private venue hires perfect for birthdays, stags, hens and Christmas parties. The cells will range in size, perfect for couples as well as larger groups. What’s more, Alcotraz: Cell Block Three-Six will uniquely expand on the immersive storyline with the introduction of a Visitation Area, Laundry Room and Warden’s Office. Guests who get the Guards on their sides will unlock the opportunity to explore these unseen areas.

The experience begins as soon as guests purchase a ticket, which are available online here. In advance of visiting, guests will be able to create their own unique Criminal Record from the Department of Justice before being secretly instructed by bootleggers on the inside to smuggle their liquor into Alcotraz.

Smuggling their spirit past The Warden, inmates will be led into Alcotraz Penitentiary and given their own unique inmate number and orange jumpsuit to wear for the duration of their sentencing to avoid escape. Once in their cells, they will encounter a cast of shady characters and the jail’s notorious bootlegging gang who are ready to transform illicit liquor into bespoke, delicious, contemporary and classic cocktails. The prison canteen system makes for the perfect disguise of hiding contraband in this Cell Block. Expect to see your smuggled liquor hidden inside cooking appliances and your cocktails served in discrete containers to avoid suspicions from The Warden.

The pioneering immersive cocktail experience, created by Inventive Productions, first opened in London in 2017, generating global headlines, creating controversy and thrilling audiences looking for a unique and memorable night out.

Like other Inventive Productions shows, such as the Wild West inspired ‘Moonshine Saloon’ and the nautical adventure of ‘Pirates of The Hidden Spirit’, Alcotraz brings to life a fictional world. With subtle references to cult American entertainment, such as, Prison Break, Orange is the New Black and Shawshank Redemption guests have the opportunity to experience a fictitious narrative unfold around them which they would only normally see on TV or cinema screens.

Sam Shearman, creator of Alcotraz and founder of Inventive Productions says: “We are so excited to be launching the next Alcotraz experience in Liverpool this March. After such a great response to Alcotraz Manchester last year and the continued support for the experiences in London and Brighton we’re thrilled to be able to grow the Alcotraz brand further. This new Liverpool site will see us experiment with really ambitious expansions to our unique storyline.”

Each session is £36.99 for seats within a Prison Cell.
