Senses Working Overtime With Abditory’s Drinking In The Dark Summer Cocktail Event
A Liverpool bar with a burgeoning reputation as a superb cocktail destination is launching its summer season of Drinking in the Dark – its sensational and sensory blind tasting.
Drinking in the Dark at Abditory on Queen Avenue in Liverpool city centre allows other senses to dominate, without the benefit of sight. But rest assured, at Abditory delicious drinks come as standard.
The event encourages participants to reevaluate their perception of taste through specially conceived cocktails based around the word “Summer” that will stimulate the other senses.
Throughout the evening, in pitch black guests will be served six cocktails to challenge taste, smell, touch and hearing, all accompanied by music and stories that will tell the tale of the drink and reveal its secrets.
The six drinks will explore our understanding of the warmest season and use a range of ingredients and flavours alongside top brand spirits, liqueurs and mixers – some of which are specifically made in-house for the event.
The six drinks have been named:
- An English Garden Party
- Holiday Mode Activated
- A Day at the Funfair
- Wimbledon, a British Classic
- Who put the Peaches on the BBQ
- Ice Cream of Summer Days
Steven Burgess of Lucky Penny Group, operators of Abditory, said: “We had a great reaction to our Spring cocktail edition of Drinking in the Dark Spring and now it’s the turn of Summer. It’s grown up, intriguing, and challenging fun in a fantastic setting.
“As expert cocktail mixers at Abditory, we’re big fans of letting our tongues lead us to fantastic flavour combinations but Drinking in the Dark takes this to a new place with a multi-sensory experience to just having a drink. It’s guaranteed to make your other senses work overtime.
“Our sense of sight is responsible for most of the information we absorb, especially when consuming drink and food. This event allows everyone to discover tastes differently and will open the doors to new perceptions.
“It’s about letting go, reconnecting and trusting your other senses. It’s a cocktail night with a difference and when the lights go up the party starts.”
Drinking in the Dark takes places on Wednesday 27 July from 7 – 10pm at Abditory, 22 Queen Avenue, Liverpool and costs £35 per person.
Tickets can be booked on Eventbrite.
