Finca To Bring A Taste of Cuba To Slater Street

Cuban Street Food Concept to Begin Residency at The Merchant.

Cuban street food eatery FINCA is set to begin its second residency of the year in September when it takes over the kitchen at Slater Street venue, The Merchant.

Launched in March, FINCA has spent the summer months located within The Baltic Triangle’s Botanical Gin Garden – where it has been serving a range of tasty Cuban dishes from cubanos, traditional Cuban sandwiches, and tacos to barbecued meats and mariquitas, plantain crisps.

FINCA officially takes over the kitchen on Saturday 17 September with a launch party celebrating the partnership, which will see DJs performing within the beer garden of The Merchant.

All current items on offer at the Gin Garden will stay on the menu at The Merchant, with the addition of other items including a number of sharing dishes such as large quesadillas.

Despite only being open for seven months, FINCA has already established a keen following for its monthly BBQs and diners will be happy to hear that these will continue to take place regularly.

The Merchant, FINCA’s home-to-be, was opened in April in the former Mello Mello site on Slater Street.

The historic building was carefully redeveloped to include a street level bar, a first floor multi-use events space and extensive garden to the rear.

Michael Harrison, chef and co-founder of FINCA, says:

“We are delighted to begin our second residency of the year at The Merchant – the past 7 months at the Botanical Gin Garden have been fantastic!

We’ve got lots of delicious menu additions and exciting events planned to take place at the venue – including a cubano and lobster evening. We can’t wait to get started, and we’re all looking forward to our launch on 17 September.”

FINCA will be serving from The Merchant seven days a week.
