Liverpool’s Beloved Bistro The Watering Can Celebrates 100,000 Full English Breakfasts Served

One of Liverpool’s best-loved café/bistros, The Watering Can, has hit an impressive milestone—serving over 100,000 Full English Breakfasts since opening its doors in Greenbank Park in 2019.

The park-side venue has become a breakfast institution in South Liverpool, earning a devoted following for its high-quality food, warm and welcoming atmosphere, and picturesque botanical setting. Visitors flock from far and wide—including Cheshire, Lancashire, the Wirral, Chester and North Wales—to sample what’s become known as one of the best breakfasts in the region.

The star of the menu is the now-iconic Full English Breakfast, which features award-winning back bacon, pork and leek sausage, Stornoway black pudding, free-range fried egg, Heinz baked beans, hashbrowns, roast tomato, mushroom, and artisan bloomer toast.

Plant-based options are also hugely popular, with The Watering Can’s Vegetarian and Vegan Breakfasts winning praise from regulars. Lighter favourites such as the Bacon and Egg Barm and the vibrant Breakfast Fruit Salad—topped with Greek yoghurt, berry compote, glazed fig, granola, honey and chopped nuts—offer something for every appetite.

Renowned for its commitment to local suppliers and premium ingredients, The Watering Can has also welcomed its share of celebrity diners over the years. Famous faces including Martin Freeman, Sheridan Smith, Helen Flanagan, Steven and Alex Gerrard, and Liz McClarnon have all been spotted tucking into breakfast at the popular venue.

Food blogger The Scouse Ghetto Gourmet (Jerome Griffin) hailed the Full English as “one of the best full English breakfasts I have ever had.”

In response to its ongoing popularity, The Watering Can recently introduced a new online booking system, allowing guests to reserve tables and avoid queues. The team has also announced plans to launch a luxury set breakfast menu, following high demand after a successful trial on Mother’s Day. A new seasonal menu will also be revealed in the coming weeks.

Owner Keith Perryman said: “100,000 Full English Breakfasts is a tremendous milestone for The Watering Can. We welcome regular and new guests every week, and our team is committed to providing the best quality food and service.”

With its stunning location, quality ingredients, and passionate team, The Watering Can remains at the heart of Liverpool’s breakfast scene—and shows no signs of slowing down.
