Following the success of their debut EP, Gustaffson are back teasing us with some brand new music off their debut album, to be released in early 2025.
Having formed in 2020, Gustaffson is the brainchild of Liverpool-born singer songwriter Andrew Gower and his lifelong friend and guitarist James Webster. The project came about very serendipitously when Gower met Elbow musician and producer Craig Potter. This then sparked a musical collaboration which led to the recording of their debut EP, The Jacaranda, which was recorded at the iconic Blue Print Studios in Manchester. The EP was released in August 2022 and has received widespread radio play, even being named Record of the Week on Guy Garvey’s Finest Hour on BBC Radio 6.
In the build up to the release of their highly-anticipated 13 track debut album Black & White Movie, Gustaffson are releasing live performances from some of the tracks that will be on the record. The album, produced by Elbow, is due for release at the end of January 2025, with 2 singles landing from the album in autumn 2024.
First up is Paris In Summer, recorded live at The Arch Recording Studio in Southport and directed by Sam Fountayne. The song explodes into life, the bass and drums are perfectly in sync. Twinkling guitar riffs and bright percussion keep the song moving but what ties all of these beautiful elements together are the lead vocals which soar effortlessly throughout the song.

There is something very special about Gower’s voice, he is able to connect with audiences, taking us along for the ride as he balances the delicate higher registers and the rich, deep notes. His voice is filled with emotion and character and this alongside the rest of the band truly set the scene of the song.
The second live performance video is On Broadway (Live Acoustic at 53two Theatre Manchester). Once again Gower shows off his impressive vocals on this stunning song and the setting at 53two Theatre lends perfectly to the atmospheric tone of the music.

To celebrate their upcoming album release, Gustaffson will be headlining four of their favourite UK venues as part of their Black & White Movie Tour 2024. With performances scheduled in Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester and finishing in London.
