Thousands Experience The Dock After Dark For River of Light
Royal Albert Dock Liverpool was enjoyed by thousands of visitors at the weekend as River of Light returned to the city. The spectacular light festival runs until 5 November with thousands more expected to enjoy what’s on offer over the next week.
Those yet to embark on the trail can experience enchanting evenings of culture, late-night shopping and delicious dockside dining as 12 new installations illuminate the city.
Light trail walkers can experience two brand-new art installations at the dock from 5 pm to 9 pm daily, which form part of this year’s theme: United by Light. Projected onto the Maritime Museum, visitors to the inner quay can view Ukrainian Dreams by Tais Poda – an audio-visual spectacle complete with fantastic beasts and brightly coloured landscapes.
Interactive artwork, Emergence by This is Loop, will also bring a choreographed light display and mesmerising soundtrack to the dock. The piece consists of 75 large mirrors creating an immersive cylindrical pavilion in front of the Martin Luther King Jr. Building.
Offering a dock after-dark experience for the occasion, those looking to make the most of River of Light’s remaining days can enjoy extended opening hours at a selection of shops. Take home a Scouse souvenir from The Nest, With Love From Liverpool and Liverpool Pictures or indulge with a sweet treat from Roly’s Fudge and Quay Confectionary.
Hungry visitors who are looking for grab-and-go food can head to sister venues Maray and the One O’Clock Gun, Peaberry Coffee House and Kitchen, Docklands Fish and Chips or a selection of food trucks along Hartley Quay while exploring the stunning surroundings. From hearty portions of British classics to cups of coffee and hot chocolate, there’s something for everyone. Plus, those wanting to take shelter from the cooler autumnal nights can choose from the dock’s bars and restaurants for mouth-watering menus and imaginative cocktails.
