Lime Street
After years of construction work, the redevelopment of Lime Street is finally nearing completion. This multi-million-pound project will transform one of Liverpool’s most iconic gateways. As with the Strand, the project aims to improve access for pedestrians, cyclists and bus passengers by narrowing the road and providing more pavement and cycle lanes. Work is due to be completed this summer after several delays caused by various reasons, including the previous contractor going into administration. Construction work has resulted in this popular area looking like a building site and causing inconvenience due to roadworks, so the end will be welcomed! The scheme has been quite controversial, resulting in the council addressing some concerns, such as allowing buses to travel in both directions and improving pedestrian crossings and cycle facilities.
Liverpool Waters
The Liverpool Waters scheme is an ambitious project as part of a 30-year vision. Therefore, don’t expect this scheme to conclude anytime soon! This £5 billion development looks to transform Liverpool’s iconic waterfront and docklands. Several projects have already been completed, and more are well underway. The scheme aims to provide new homes, office spaces, hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, and much more. A brand-new cruise terminal is planned for some point over the next few years.
Paddington Village
Paddington Village is an exciting redevelopment at the heart of Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter. What used to be a derelict school site is now an emerging location. This project has positioned Liverpool as an international destination for the science, technology, education and health industries. The village is already home to state-of-the-art workspaces, labs and accommodation. The Spine, a unique 14-storey building, opened in 2021 and boasts one of the best working environments for mental and physical wellbeing. Work has already commenced on several other schemes, including a new Novotel hotel. The hotel is set to open in the summer, and at 16 floors, it will be the tallest hotel in the city. Guests will be treated to luxury rooms, a restaurant and bar, and stunning panoramic views of Liverpool.
Westminster Park
Westminster Park is a new residential development being managed by experienced property developers Sourced Development Group. The scheme will bring hundreds of apartments to Liverpool’s Vauxhall area across three blocks. One of the blocks is 56 Westminster Park, which is already nearly sold out. This block will include 56 contemporary apartments across nine floors, each of which will be completed to a high specification. Central East is another block at Westminster Park that will comprise 114 luxury studio, one and two bedroom apartments. Residents can expect to benefit from premium living, excellent amenities and close proximity to Liverpool city centre.
Football Stadiums
Liverpool is mad crazy about football, so we have to talk about the city’s two biggest football teams! After expanding the Main Stand, Liverpool FC’s owners are proceeding with a vast redevelopment of the Anfield Road section. The stand will introduce 7,000 new seats, increasing the stadium’s capacity to 61,000. Work began in September 2021, and the stand is expected to be ready for the 2023-24 season. As for the blue side of Merseyside, there’s a whole new stadium to look forward to! After years of delays, Everton FC is finally ready to move to a new home at Bramley-Moore Dock. Construction work for the stunning new stadium has started, and when it opens in a few years, 52,888 fans will be able to attend matches. Everton’s current home at Goodison Park will be redeveloped to build a mixed-use complex at the heart of the community.
Molo Hotel
A new hotel will soon be coming to Liverpool’s thriving Duke Street. A former car park is being transformed into the Molo Hotel, a joint venture between Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn Express. The hotel will bring 255 rooms to one of the city’s best up and coming destinations. Features will include a restaurant and bar, gym and meeting room facilities. Construction work is well underway, and the hotel’s exterior has started to take shape in recent weeks.
Liverpool ONE Leisure Complex
Debenhams closed their flagship Liverpool ONE store in 2021, and the 100,00 sq. ft premises have been left vacant ever since. Plans have now been announced to convert the site into a leisure complex run by Gravity Active Entertainment. The £10m scheme is planned to have an e-karting experience, bowling, urban golf, a bar, and an integrated rooftop space. The leisure complex is set to open towards the end of the year.
