Baltic Market Is Set To Bring Together The Cities Indie Food & Drink Community
Foodies rejoice! The team behind Independent Liverpool are bringing the first weekly event of its kind to the city – a brand new food hall called Baltic Market. Taking over the iconic Cains Brewery located in the Baltic Triangle, the free to enter space will showcase a taste of the best offerings from Liverpool’s indie food and drink community.
Launching on June 30th from 5pm, Baltic Market will feature a rotating schedule of up to 10 food stalls with traders changing on a monthly cycle. Combining well-known local businesses, street food vendors and some unique concepts from Independent Liverpool, visitors are in for a real treat. Confirmed traders so far include Slim’s Pork Chop Express, Little Furnace Wood Fired Pizzas, The Midnight Delivery, ItalFresh, Oktopus, Pao and many more – so there’s something new for everyone! Not only about the first-class grub, its creators also want to support local artists with JazzStan Artist working her creative magic to make the disused warehouse look all pretty in time for the opening weekend.
After starting four years ago as a small blog, Independent Liverpool has grown enormously to incorporate everything from discount cards to cinema nights and popular food festivals – and now they’re bringing it all together under one roof at the Baltic Market.
David Williams, co-founder of the Baltic Market, told us: “We can’t put into words how excited we are to open Baltic Market. Two years ago, we kind of fell into doing events, it wasn’t really on our agenda but it led to us doing food and drink festivals, cinema nights, celebrity quiz specials and more. For a while we’ve been looking for a place we can call home and the iconic Cains Brewery has been beyond our wildest dreams.”
Open from Thursday–Sunday, be prepared for an exciting events calendar with a cocktail bar, local craft beer, DJs and live music nights all lined up. The first event has already been booked in and it’s a good one! On July 11, Baltic Market welcomes a sell-out Peep Show quiz night hosted by Jeff from the much-loved comedy show.
Staying true to their roots, backing the local independent scene remains the number one priority: “If you come for a pint you’re supporting a brewery just down the road, if you come for a bite to eat you’re supporting local chefs and butchers, if you come to one of our farmer’s markets or maker’s markets on Sundays you’re supporting local artists and producers and if you share a bottle of red you’re supporting an independent wine merchant. The list goes on”.
David continued: “Supporting the local economy is all we serve to do and with Baltic Market, you can’t spend a penny in there without supporting local. We feel honoured every day to have our job and we hope Baltic Market is a place everyone in Liverpool will call home.”
Baltic Market opens its doors to the public from Friday 30th June at 5pm.
